After a little research, all the experts seem to say that the egg should be firm all the way through to cancel any chance of salmonella poisoning. Unfortunately....i think that's a little longer than you want to cook your soft boiled egg. Chat Icon

nope your eggs are hard boiled...the terms tell you the consistency of the egg...

for soft boiled you put the eggs in the water once its at a high boil and only leave them in about 3 minutes....this makes the white part mostly hard and the yolk is still runny, it's almost like a chunky egg soup!! it's really good, but I wasn't sure if the yolk was OK to be runny and the white had to be cooked, cuz in that case I could do it, but seems the verdict is the WHOLE egg must be firm...which is OK because I like fried eggs too...

from what i'm hearing, they're not good either...and that was my favorite way to eat eggs...

first time DH made me scrambled eggs i dont think they were fullycooked cuz as soon as i finished eating them I ran to the bathroom!!! lol

I'd cut down at least...if you haven't been getting sick that's good, but maybe at least wean yourself off of them lol, don't want to take the chance

They say there is always a risk of salmonella as long as there is any liquid left to the egg. So doctors advise not to take the risk.

Re: Soft Boiled Eggs??? OK to eat??

tell me about it...or how about when you're eating food you KNOW is ok and healthy (like fruit, and nuts, etc)

and you have family saying "THERES TOO MUCH SUGAR IN FRUIT" and "WATCH YOUR SALT INTAKE IF YOU'RE EATING ALMONDS/PISTACHIOS" "THeres too many carbs in whole wheat bread!"

I want to smack people LOL

Re: Soft Boiled Eggs??? OK to eat??

I just ate my egg sandwich, never cooked fully cooked eggs, thought it was fully cooked and about 3 bites in, some yolk started coming out Chat Icon

It was only a bit, the rest of the sandwich was fine, but sheesh I didn't realize how long eggs have to cook!

next time ill get it right

LOL Exactly...I've had about every type of fast food once so far, but every time it made me feel so crappy...taco bell = sick, burger king = couldn't finish, mcdonalds = can't even think about eating it anymore...

so I'm laying off..

but you're absolutely right!!! Maybe we should all just chew ice for 9 months, and drink V8...Chat Icon
