Some 1 yr old :o feeding questions...
I have a couple of questions because I am on a crusade to get Sasha eating all finger food (when possible).
This morning I gave her those mini-waffles. I decided to just let her pick them up and bite off of them, instead of cutting into little pieces. Is that ok?
Yesterday I gave her a string cheese thing, again-- just let her bite off of it while watching her to make sure she didn't shove too much in her mouth at once. Is that ok too?
I am also trying to get her to spoon feed herself, but the spoons I have may be too long-- any suggesitions on spoons that are good for little hands?
Lastly, I want to find little tiny cups, so she can try drinking straight from them-- anyone have suggestions? Someone told me Ikea has these great little cups, but I don't want to schlep there just for these unless I have to.
Thanks!!

Re: Some 1 yr old :o feeding questions...
I gave DS those waffles and cheese too; at 12 mo since food was so new (I'm paranoid) I was still cutting everything up though, now at 16 mos I give him bigger chunks but I still watch him closely. He really does STUFF everything in so he's not quite ready for unassisted eating yet! We're using these spoon/fork sets. The handles are chunky for a better grasp and the fork tines are rounded for safety:
He's getting the hang of it but at this point he's not going to win any awards for self-feeding

I either cut them up for him, or hold the waffle and let him bite it. I wouldn't let him bite it himself, because he would just shove the entire thing in his mouth lol.
I use the baby enstein spoons, but haven't tried forks yet. I want him to be better with the spoon before I give him a fork also. Plus he really just likes to pick up his food with his hands lol.

I still cut everything up for Chels, including waffles and cheese, I'm overly anal....I'm also trying to get her to use a plate fork and spoon which isn't going to well...

Re: Some 1 yr old :o feeding questions...
yeah- I had just bought the cheese sticks, and we were walking home from the store, so I figured-- let's try it. It did make me nervous, but I figured maybe it was just me being paranoid.
I'll just continue to cut everything up.
Thanks for the spoon recco!

Re: Some 1 yr old :o feeding questions...
DD is only 10 & 1/2 months, but I cut up everything for her. Like a PP said, if I gave her things whole she would just shove the whole thing in her mouth. As it is, if I put down more than 1 piece at a time, she will pick up everything and shove it in! But if you are comfortable letting her take bites, then I see no problem with that at all!
