Some CIO alternatives? Other sleep advice?
DS is 7 months. We just moved him to his crib in his room about 3 weeks ago. He has been waking up once or twice each night.
We considered CIO but I don't think it's for us. For one, I still think he might just need adjustment time. Secondly, he may have tooth #3 coming- it's hard to tell.
What we have done so far-
Bedtime routine- bottle in the glider in his room and then reading a book. (I know a bath might be good but I don't have much time as I get home super late- so mil bathes him during the day).
Turn on the nightlight and that tutle that makes green stars everwhere.
Rock him in the gilder until he falls asleep.
Give him his little Pooh lovey (he isn't attached to it yet but is starting to get there)
So, he sleeps for about 3 or 4 hours and then wakes up. He just whines for a little and then starts to cry. I go in there and try and soothe him without picking him up. Sometimes it works but usually I end up rocking him again. I know he isn't hungry b/c he hasn't had a night time feeding for like 3 months and when he does go back to sleep (unless he wakes up once more) he stays until the morning.
Does anyone have suggestions? Some nights it is particulary hard to get him to go back and if we are struggling for an hour then the next day he is just a hot mess.
I would like to get to the point where I put him down groggy and he falls asleep on his own. (If I try that he just gets up, plays for a bit but not long b/c there aren't toys in his crib, and then ends up crying).

it may help to start teaching him to fall asleep on his own. Our ped told us this and DS has been put to bed awake since 8 weeks. I think it helps them to learn how to do it themselves. he has been sttn ever since.

I agree to teach him to fall asleep on his own-put him down awake but sleepy after your routine. Once he learns to fall asleep on his own initially, it helps with night wakings. Maybe also give him teething tablets.
