Some Driveway Advice (with Pic)
I am in the process of having Contractors come to give me estimates on my driveway and walkway. First one is tmrw and wanted to get some ideas.
We want to extend the width of the driveway by a couple of feet, I was thinking blacktop for the driveway and then get nice stone leading up to the door as well as a boarder around the grass on both sides. I wanted pavers, but with the size driveway, I am thinking that will lead me to the poor house all together.
The only thing I am not sure about is the stoop and what to do with that.
I love the wood, but this winter I almost killed myself and slipped on black ice down all the stairs
Any ideas/thoughts? Image Attachment(s):

Re: Some Driveway Advice (with Pic)
Well the first thing is that in my own experience researching for my driveway, front stoop, walkway, etc...
I was told that blacktop is not really cheaper than pavers and that is a misconception. So we opted for pavers based on this and were very happy we did so.
If you wanted pavers, I would say price it, as it may be very close to the cost of the blacktop, the same or even a bit less (depending on which pavers you choose).
Front stoop...hmm...there are so many options to chose from. I would certainly go with brick/paver/stone over wood. (ETA - I think the wood looks great with your home's exterior though)
What do you like? What colors might you do if you choose stone/pavers/brick? Do you plan to redo the outside at some point? Would this factor into which color stone/pavers you might choose, etc?

Good to know
I am 100% going to see how much the pavers cost vs. blacktop. I want pavers, but at the same time I don't hate blacktop. I am not planning on changing the color of the house, but def going to get it powerwashed and maybe re-stained down the line, but stay in the gray family.
I have no idea what type of stone or pavers I would want, I actually think tonight I am going to look on-line for some ideas to show the Contractor.
I love the wood stoop also, thinking maybe leave that and just change the actually walkway leading up to it. That gets sooo slippery.

If you love the wood stoop, you could easily just do a paver walkway.
Is your blacktop in bad shape? It looks really good in the pic.
And if you plan to likely keep the house the same color, you could do gray pavers if you like or a different color for a pop. Depends on taste totally.
My house is maple colored, but I opted for gray b/c we have natural fieldstone on the front as well, so I wanted the gray to blend with that. Prior to what we chose, the previous owner did red brick, which I was not a fan of.

love the front of your house Bari! I think everything looks pretty good though. Pavers would def. look great. There are so many websites to look at. I'm sure the contractor will give you ideas. What about Trex for the stoop? Looks like wood, but you never have to worry about it (staining, etc.). Walk way in pavers would look really nice.
This site has some nice ideas. Link

Good link, with great ideas, JLD!.
I really like this, if someone uses blacktop. We were going to do this, before we opted for all pavers. I find it really softens the way the blacktop looks and makes it transition nicely if you have a sidewalk or curb.

Re: Some Driveway Advice (with Pic)
This is what the previous owners did to our house. There is a border of pavers at the edge of the driveway on the left.
