Driveway idea (pic included)
So I played with paint on the computer to get an idea what the house would look like with a larger driveway and this is what I came up with.
Also along the edge will be a brick border.
What do you think ??
eta: we are now thinking no not doing a front porch - Any suggestions?? Image Attachment(s):

Re: Driveway idea (pic included)
it looks good.
are you making the driveway bigger to accomadate 4 cars, or just big enough for 2 cars (one behind each other)?

That looks great! I love how you did that. You might have to teach me how to do it too! We need to widen ours at some point too!

I kinda like that little area of plants that you're thinking of getting rid of.

I know we did too but eventually they were going, when we did the porch and second story (5-yr plan)...

It looks good, you would just have to check with your town about expanding your apron. I think you have to get permits and approval to do so.

Re: Driveway idea (pic included)
I think it looks really good! Maybe you can put some type of stone/slate path that leads from the house to the driveway instead of all blacktop? Just an idea?

The only reason why we are not doing that is because I want to add a porch to the front og the house when we go up and the guy said they would have to rip that out so it would be a waste at this time....

Re: Driveway idea (pic included)
only thing i don't like is how the blacktop leads up to the front stoop. IMO, a plain curved walkway would look a lot nicer.

i replied prior to reading all the posts. if this is the case then why extend the driveway to the stoop? won't they have to rip it out once a porch is added?

Not all of it, If anything the guy said they would have to drill holes for support....

Me too...Does getting rid of that area give you enough room for another car?
What about a circular driveway? Your property looks wide enough.

Re: Driveway idea (pic included)
I think your house has great curb appeal now, I don't think you need a porch. Do you have a closeup pic of the area to the right of your front door? Is that decorative our can you sit/walk behind those pillars? I think a custom stoop-brick or slate with new railings & a new brick/slate/paver curved walkway w/the new bigger driveway is all you need. There is a member of thenest.com that does free computer mock ups. Her bio name is "notblushing" go the the home forum & page her, she'll do a mock up for you with the new driveway & new landscaping. She's awesome.

Re: Driveway idea (pic included)
OK - I KNOW THIS IS AN OLD POST BUT WE ARE DOING THE DRIVEWAY THIS YEAR - I HAVE DECIDED NOT TO DO A PORCH AND WE WILL BE GETTING RID OF BICK PATIO THINKGY TO THE RIGHT OF THE FRONT DOOR AND WILL PUSH BACK THAT GARDEN TO THE HOUSE TO EQUAL THE OTHER SIDE...
HOW MY QUESTION IS THIS:
1ST - WE WILL BE RE-DOING THE STOOP WITH ALL THIS AND SHOULD I MAKE THE GARDEN ON THE RIGHT STRAIGHT ACROSS LIKE THE LEFT SIDE OR CURVED A LITTLE LIKE A HALF CIRCLE
2ND - I WAS THINKING OF DOING A PAVER WALKWAY FROM THE DRIVEWAY UP TO THE STOOP - WHAT DO YOU THINK
3RD - SHOULD I KEEP THE GARDEN AREA AT THE FRONT OF THE HOUSE IN THE CORNER - IT WILL HAVE TO BE MOVED OVER 4' BEING THE DRIVEWAY IS CURRENTLY 20' AND IT WILL NEED TO BE 24' FOR THE TWO CARS
ANY OTHER CRUB APPEAL SUGGESTIONS WOULD BE GREATLY APPRECIATED....
THANK YOU SO MUCH....
