Some thoughts from a newly BTDT mama
Hey ladies, I hope everyone is well. I just thought of some stuff that I wanted to share.
*Everyone told me not to bother with pajamas and robes, but I bought some sets and they made me feel so girly and put together and were more comfortable than regular clothes.
*Everyone told me to get those Always Infinity pads. They are fine for the bleeding, and can contain that just fine BUT I had a lot of stitches and I preferred the regular pads the hospital provided. They actually put three pads on a wee wee pad type thing - not very attractive BUT the extra padding was the only reason that I was able to sit comfortably - and I used them for a few days after I got home.
*Don't be afraid to poop! Use the stool softener and the little squeeze bottle with warm water, its not bad at all!
*If anyone offers to help, TAKE IT! My mom has been doing most of the cooking, cleaning and laundry for me and allowing me time to bond with the baby and figure out breastfeeding.
*STOP BUYING THINGS! OMG! AnnaMaria is two weeks old and has over ONE HUNDRED PINK OUTFITS!!! from all of my wonderfully generous family and friends.
*Take out some looser NON maternity clothes NOW. I didn't and am still wearing maternity because I am too lazy to get them out LOL
*If you are planning on going drug free, just know that they are more overwhelming than painful -- if you can keep a clear head through them I think that you can totally go drug free. I was not able to and I have SO MUCH MORE admiration for women who are able to now, God bless them!
*Do not be afraid of the epidural - I was still able to move and feel my legs but not any of the contractions.
*I think my yoga really helped me, my legs were not sore the next day even after THREE HOURS of pushing.
*Everyone made fun of me but it really worked . . . every day I rubbed my nipples with my poof and with a dry towel. I pump multiple times a day AND nurse, and have had no pain!
* Don't ask too many questions. I literally have no idea what is going on down there. I just clean it daily and don't look or touch LOL I think that definitely made my recovery easier!
I wish you all great pregnancies and easy deliveries!
OH! Most importantly! It is painful BUT it is the most amazing, empowering life changing experience!!!! It is worth every second. I felt so powerful after, like I could do anything . DH has said so many times how amazing I was and how impressed he was with me. I can't wait for you all to experience it!

Agree with this re the pads 100%. The always infinity pads will NOT do the trick in the hospital...you bleed like a pig! Non-stop VERY heavy bleeding. You also don't need the white granny panties in the hospital - the disposable panties they give you are great...I asked for a bunch more to wear when I got home. The Always pads are great to have at home when the bleeding lets up a bit...honestly I didn't switch to them until a good week or so after birth. What I did do was use the hospital pads and then put an always pad on top of those...for extra leakage protection. My DD is 7 weeks today and I'm still wearing an Always Infinty pad every day! Just when I think it's safe to go without one...I realize I still need it
Another tip...be super nice to your nurses and ask them for extra stuff to take home with you. I had stitches as well so they give you this ointment to numb the area (you put it on your pad)...I got a good 4 extra tubes of it to take home with me just by asking the nurse. I also got lots of the hospital pads and the ice pack pads to take home...those were great! Don't be afraid to ask for stuff to take home.
I also wore hospital gown first night...sweats and a t-shirt after that. No need for robe or nightgowns or anything like that.
I also have to tell you all it is THE best experience ever...jealous of all of you that still get to do it. My DD is 7 weeks - a friend of mine had her first baby this week and I was SO jealous all day when she was in labor...I want to do it again! And I was in labor for 15 hours, pushed for 1.5 hours and had an episiotomy! And I would do it again tomorrow!!!
Good luck ladies!

Re: Some thoughts from a newly BTDT mama
I agree! Take the epidural if you can...you never know what kind of labor is ahead of you!!!!
Definitely take help because there is NO such thing as napping when the baby naps!!!!
Pooping was NO big deal, at all! Definitely take the stool softeners to ease your mind....they do not make you go, they just make it easier to go!!!
Great tips : )
