BTDT moms(or anyone with thoughts)..if your Dr. wrote you out of work early?
I am hoping to get my Dr. to write me out of work early at 39 weeks. Right now I am 37W2D and work is definately not easy to say the least! I have a very physical job...lifting, transferring and transporting patients in wheelchairs throughout the day. Not to mention it is stressfull with all of my responsibilities since I am in charge of my dept. when my boss is not here (which is A LOT). My coworkers are great and help me out but still...it's a lot to handle at this stage. Not to mention I have 1.5 hour commute (sometimes 2 hours) each way which is KILLER.
Anyway...I mentioned this to my doc. and she said in order to write me out she needs a diagnosis like high blood pressure or something. She said we should take it week by week.
I am hoping to work through the rest of this week and next...but I have no intentions of coming in at 39 weeks. My boss knows...but I still need a doctors note and the disability paperwork filled out. Did anyone have a similar experience? What did your Dr. write on the disability paperwork? Do you think she needs an actual diagnosis or is this enough to justify me being out? Thoughts???
ETA: I am just very worried that she wont write me out early...Maybe she thinks I am exaggerating but believe me I am not. Originally I was planning on working till the very end but realized it is too much. My coworkers are all surprised that I am still at work!

Well I have elevated BP and I once mentioned the words stress at work to my Dr and he was like- I can put you out right now if you want.
Unfortuneatly that wasn't an option for me at the time.
However- what if you complained about swelling after being on your feet so long? Or told her how physical your job is and that you don't feel well at the end of the day?
I mean not everything that is bad for you and the baby is measurable on a test, kwim?
I am sure she will work with you if you really play it up!

My doctor wrote me out of work at 35 weeks though I actually went in until 36 weeks. She made me stop working for numerous reasons, elevated blood pressure being one of them.
I didn't ask to stop but she felt there was enough cause.
Maybe if you stress the "stress" of your job, your doctor will give in? When you over due it do you get crampy? Do you have shortness of breath? I'd play it up like a pp said.

My Dr didn't write me out. I was contracting 5 min apart for 2 weeks before delivering and she still was like...oh well some woman contract like this for months. I stopped working and ate the weeks with no pay. I cant be at work huffing through contractions. My disability started when the baby was born.
