I think New Faces is that agency that walks around the mall and tells you that your kid should be a model.

It is. That don't even look at the kids either. I was watching them yesterday and they were saying the same thing to everyone and not even looking at them.
The same women came up to us 2x. I just feel bad that people spend all this money and you don't have to at all. And my goodness over a $1000

Re: Someone I know just spent over $1000 with New Faces...
FYI State Settles With New Faces For Deceptive Claims HICKSVILLE, LI---The state Attorney General's office has reached settlement with The New Faces Development Center which was cited for making deceptive and exaggerated claims about the services it provided to aspiring models and actors.
According to the settlement agreement New Faces, based in Hicksville, claimed that it provided talent management services including industry placement and training, and that it was highly selective in scouting, screening and reviewing young people for potential as models and actors. However, New Faces is not a modeling agency and rarely obtained modeling or acting employment for its clients. It principally provided photographic services and for an additional fee, posted photographic images on its website, Gigacomps.com, presumably to promote its clients to industry professionals, according to the Attorney General's office.
"This company appealed to the desires of children, teenagers and young adults to become 'stars.' Parents believed New Faces' misrepresentations that their children would have lucrative futures as working models or actors," Spitzer said. "Model and acting development centers and photo studios should only promise what they can actually deliver."
New Faces' "talent scouts" are alleged to have approached consumers, usually children, teenagers and young adults, in public places such as the Roosevelt Field shopping mall, Jones Beach and concert halls. The scouts led youngsters to believe that they had been scouted because they have a "look" that made them likely to succeed as models and actors. They were told that they would incur no costs and should contact a "Director" at New Faces to schedule an evaluation.
According to the allegations, those who met with a director were led to believe that only a few of those interviewed were actually offered an opportunity with the company, that they must sign a "photo shoot agreement" that same day, and pay hundreds or even thousands of dollars to get started.
In truth, New Faces was not highly selective about whom it scouted or signed to photo shoot agreements. New Faces sometimes even extracted additional money from its clients by directing them for additional services to its affiliated companies, including Gigacomps.com, Vanique and Nijah Productions, according to the Attorney General.
Prior to the settlement announced Thursday, the Attorney General's Office, the Better Business Bureau and the Nassau County Department of Consumer Affairs had received approximately 55 complaints against New Faces.
Under the settlement, New Faces will pay the State $75,000 in penalties and $2,000 in costs, and up to $500,000 in restitution to aggrieved consumers. New Faces also has agreed make changes to its business practices and to comply fully with New York State Law. The company will retain relevant records for inspection by the Attorney General's office.
Those who wish to file a claim for restitution should file a complaint with the Attorney General's office, together with proper supporting documentation, by March 5 by contacting. the Attorney General's complaint hotline at 1-800-771-7755. 1-19-06

Re: Someone I know just spent over $1000 with New Faces...
OMGosh!!
I admit, a few months ago I "fell" for it, filled out the card and within a day they called. Finally, yesterday, I was home, answered the phone and told them to take me off the list. It was after I filled the card out, I learned they are a "scam".
Sorry your friend didn't know

Re: Someone I know just spent over $1000 with New Faces...
what a rip off. is there a way for them to get their money back? I remember going to New Faces when i was younger, b/c i used to model both my sister and I. My mom walked us right out when she heard how much they wanted. And back then i think they wanted more.

Re: Someone I know just spent over $1000 with New Faces...
Are you sure that person wasnt my husband???
This happened to us. My husband fell for it and I say my husband because I left it all up to him. I didnt even want DD to even model. Anyway, we spent a pretty penny with them and are now disputing the charges with the CC company. I also work in a law firm and they wrote a letter to them but we never even heard back from them.
I had a feeling something wasnt right, but my DH wanted to do this so i just basically told him if you want to do it then do it, but Im not having anything to with it. And for a while thats the way it was. He took her for her "photo shoot" and handled most of the aspects. Im just handing the getting our money back part of it.
Sometimes my DH doesnt get it. HE thinks everyone is nice and noone is out to scam people out of money.
All admit, when i saw this post i was hesitant to admit we were victims of this ridiculous company. I feel so stupid about it.

Re: Someone I know just spent over $1000 with New Faces...
They "accosted" me and Taylor in the Smithaven Mall, to top it off, my friend was with me and the two of us joked that she was annoyed because they didn't say anything about her DS. They tried to talk me into in another time that we were there, but I was annoyed this time because the woman came to me and said Taylor was gorgeous, but she really didn't even look at her! Such a scam. I just tell them that DH won't allow it anyway and they stopped pushing.

I'm sorry some of you have gone through this. It's amazing that companys like this can still operate. Whenever they approach me or my SIL we tell them, "oh, thank you so much, but our kids are already signed with Ford. They usually leave us alone quickly!

I hate them! Dh is the most mild mannered man, but got so angry at them at Smithaven a few months ago. It's such a scam and sad that they prey on innocent people

Re: Someone I know just spent over $1000 with New Faces...
They walked up to me when I was speed walking with Jared in his stroller to get the heck out of the mall. She asked me if I was interested in modeling for my son. I told her he already is one (he isn't). When she asked me what company I told her (my last name) modeling...
