Somersault or Tumblesault?
Settle a debate. Which one is it? Somersault or tublesault? And to clarify, we are describing when a child bends over, puts their head on the floor and rolls over....

I think "tumblesault" is like the pack-n-play of the playpen.
"somersault" is the old school origional.
Everything keeps changing...

I was a gymnast when I was a kid and we always called it a somersault, never heard of a tumblesault.

We say tumblesault. For some reason I thought somersaults were in the air, although I'm wrong.

I have NEVER even HEARD of Tumblesault
Somersault yes..
Mind you I grew up Navy and moved around a lot as a kid. Spent most of my childhood outside of Texas but never heard that term.
Maybe I'm just old.

holy bible says so must be true
Someone go edit it, so it say both. A word only has meaning is someone else understands it. Well, looks like you got enough people understanding it.
I never heard of tumblesault, only somersault, I took gymnastics as a kid.

What you're describing is neither a "somersault" or a "tumblesault"; what you're describing is a basic gymnastic technique simply referred to as a "roll". (Sometimes called a "forward roll" or a "ground roll".)
Similar to "tumblesault", "tumblesauce" is another word often used to refer to a roll. "Tumblesault", however, I have never heard used before.
Now "somersault" refers to a different move where you perform the same rotation, but in the air rather than on the ground, like you would with a tumblesauce. Oftentimes you'll see gymnasts performing somersaults at the Olympics.
