This has NOTHING to do with anything on here or anyone specifically..

But..

I have read so many times..Its hard to clarify your tone when on the computer. Sometimes things come across the wrong way when typing.

Do you think some people hide behind this?

I agree that while typing, even during a chat, things get lost in translation and we arent always able to express ourselves right but sometimes I think that people use this as an excuse to be rude. I am sure I am guilty of this in some way at some point, but it was just a thought that entered my mind.

seriously thank you for posting this. i wanted to post the EXACT SAME THING but i didn't want to start any unnecessary drama so i started the other (emoticon) post instead.

however, since it's out there now, i will gladly say that i do, sometimes, feel that way.

I don't use it as an excuse to be rude...If I think someone is wrong, I will say it in the clearest way possible. If what I say is misconstrued I will clarify it if at all possible.

Hmmm...interessting. I have never even thought about that. Would someone really be that deliberate?

I guess using that excude would be the easy way out of things got sticky.

Why do we need 3 threads on this Chat Icon

People say "you are so rude and mean" when you have a different opinion then them. And thats so STUPID! We all have opinions and are allowed to express them.

I went back to do a search and I was right Headoveheals said I had a "snotty Tone" I asked a simple question (like I did on the dr phil thread) I didn't even add an emote-icons (like she said in her other post)

No. Why would they?

well, fortunoff does, and target sells a lot of the same things that they, BB&B and LNT do. no need for the snotty tone.

thanks for the info ladies.

I'm still too new to have an overall opinion about this board, but yes, I know people do this on others, I think it's just the nature of a message board community sometimes. Like I posted in the last thread, it's one of the main reasons I left a previous one.

Actually I didnt see the other post at all.

And, I think I clarified when I said I had NO ONE in mind when making this post..it was just something that came to me. Partly because I have said it before, more in im chats than on here but I was just wondering about it.

If it is Tuesday on Friday...does that mean we can drink tonight? Chat Icon

BTW I don't hide behind the computer, I am sarcastic in person, too. At least on the computer I don't call everyone Bo and Luke Duke...like I tend to do in real life. G-d Bless NC! Chat Icon Chat Icon

I could see like Target and Kmart or Linens and things and BBB or Bloomingdales and Nordstrom they are competitors. But to Me target and BBB aren't

AND someone else quoted me and agreed with me but I was flamed Chat Icon OH WELL Chat Icon

Re: Something I was thinking about (not meant to cause drama, although I am sure it will at some point.)

I don't know about doing it on purpose but I know that I, Personally, speak in real life very ....um... differently that most people do. I cut back a lot when posting but as I am sure you can tell, posts still sort of ramble. *shrug*

Anywhooooo...

I have plenty of posts deleted, attacked and misinterpreted. I used to get righteous when someone took something I "simply" said and completely twisted it to their own conclusions without the benefit of listening to my clarification.

I am right now in that situtation on a post heh Still I've learned to just stop populating my own threads when people have misunderstood me and I feel like they won't change their minds.

If I goof up and I notice that my words are easily misunderstood I try to rectify that with the other poster via FM.

Just me.

I have read so many times..Its hard to clarify your tone when on the computer. Sometimes things come across the wrong way when typing.

Do you think some people hide behind this?

Not really. I think it's just the opposite, in fact. People use the fact that you can't hear the tone and instead assume it was meant in a snottier way than the poster intended. I think people sometimes get more readily offended or insulted when they see it typed out.

Put it this way - I know I could "get away" (for lack of a better phrase) with actually saying alot of things in person to someone from here that I would be royally flamed for by the same person if I were to type it on here simply because the tone would not be taken correctly.

I don't use it as an excuse to be rude...If I think someone is wrong, I will say it in the clearest way possible. If what I say is misconstrued I will clarify it if at all possible.
