Songs you sing...
I was wondering what songs you all sing with your babies. I was holding Emily tonight -- trying to relax her after her bath and just going through every song I know in a soft voice -- and wanted to make a big list so that I don't forget any of them.
Here's what I got so far: Twinkle, Twinkle On top of Spagetti Daisy, Daisy Eensy Weensy Spider This Little Light of Mine You are my Sunshine He's got the whole world Mary had a little lamb Bushel & a Peck Skiddamarink 5 Little Monkies Lets go driving in an automobile Clap Hands Today is Monday I got a new way to walk Where is Thumbkin? Little Bunny Foofoo

Oh geez...hell if I remember the words to ANY of those songs!
I sing whatever happens to be in my head at them moment. Lately it's been "My Humps" by the Black Eyed Peas! He doesn't know the difference and he just cracks up when I'm singing it.

Re: Songs you sing...
I'm reposting from an earlier thread (http://www.lifamilies.com/chat/topic.aspx?&P=1&ID=13174#P189830
I used Chitty Chitty Bang Bang, Mary Poppins songs
My son's & daughter's favorite songs is one that I did when I would change them
"I have your toes and your feet, and your heels and your ankles, and your calves and your shins and your knees and your THIGHS!" (followed by tickling thighs)
I did variations of "your finger and your fingernail, and your knuckle, and your wrist..." you get the idea
Result: My 2 year old daughter's teacher reported while asking where her belly was, she showed her and then said "and my kidney and my liver..."
etd: this is also a good link for lyrics:

That's so funny. I used to sing that song to Emily when I was pregnant except it went like this:
"My hump, my hump, my lovely baby bump."

I also do that with the song "daisy daisy"
Instead it goes:
Emmy Emmy (we call her Emmy for short) Give me your answer true. I'm half crazy all for the love of you. It won't be a stylish marriage I can't afford a carriage. But You'll look sweet Upon the seat of a bicycle built for two!

I usually sing Till there was You by the Beatles, Alex loves it. I also make up my own silly songs. I can't remember most of the words to the typical songs.

Actually that's not lame at all. It's silly and fun and I'm one of those crazy moms who likes to read up on development and activities you can do and it says that if you do that it helps them to respond to and recognize thier name earlier.

I like to sing the "goodnight" song by the beatles when I'm rocking her to sleep. It's the last song on the white album I believe.

There's a great book you can get on child brain development...it's called "How to Give Your Baby Encyclopedic Knowledge" by Glenn Doman . I've got the whole series... How To Teach Your Baby To Read How To Teach Your Baby To Be Physically Superb
Very interesting ideas

If you want to I could probably type out most of the words accurately. I taught pre-k for 3 years and kidner for 1 year so i sang a lot of these songs on a regular basis or listened to them on CDs over and over again during center time.

Thanks for the link! I'm adding it to my wish list so I don't forget it. The other day I picked up "Your baby's first year week by week" the same as the week by week pregnancy book and I like it so far because at the end of each week's chapter it gives you 3-4 ideas for "games" you can play -- like reach games and stuff like that. last night i was doing a touch game where you take different things like toys and ordinary objects and show them to her, let her eye track them, then put her in her hand and let her grip them and explain how they feel to her. then i'd rub it on her leg, belly, arm to let her feel it a little more. she REALLY liked it. she doesn't really smile yet but she seemed like she enjoyed it a lot.
