Sorry.. another formula question
Do you prepare bottles as needed, or do you prepare a batch in the morning to use throughout the day.
Also, if you are going out, do you prepare the bottle before hand and keep it in an insulated bottle holder, or do you bring the powder and water and mix it if you need it while out?
ETA: Also, if you prepare it ahead of time, do you warm it first or does your DC take it cold?

Re: Sorry.. another formula question
I don't prepare it ahead of time. I bring the powdered formula and water separately and mix them together as needed. DS drinks them room temperature so I don't worry about warming up or keeping cold so it won't go bad.

Re: Sorry.. another formula question
I did both. I honestly found it easier to make a batch when he was eating the most formula, and I would put it in the micrco (bad mommy!) for like 10 seconds to take the chill off.
I always brought powder and a bottle with water if we went out

Re: Sorry.. another formula question
we do both. DH prepares about 4 bottles each night and they we give the powder in the dispenser to the babysitter and she mixes it. We give DS the bottle usually from the fridge (let it sit out for 5 mins to take the chill off).
When we go out, I've done both. Lately I've been using the insulated bag with 3 bottles. Works well for us.

Re: Sorry.. another formula question
I prepare as needed. the water is room temp and then I mix with the formula
When we go out- I prepare the water in a bottle and then bring the formula in one of those containers. Then I mix when needed.
We do not heat her bottle so it makes life a little easier.

Thanks everyone! This is what we've been doing, but I was curious what others did.

Re: Sorry.. another formula question
I prepare the bottles ahead of time. I am just organized like that and it makes me feel better.
As for going out, I use the bottled tote if we are going to someone's house, then put them in the fridge and heat up as needed.
If I am going shopping or to the mall or somewhere not near a kitchen, I take the mini ready to feed bottles that I keep on hand at home. You can give it to the baby room temperature, so no heating up.

Re: Sorry.. another formula question
With Andrew I did it per bottle. But with Alexa I bought the Dr. Brown's Pitcher and it fills about 6 bottles worth of prepared formula. It is sooo much easier to just fill it and warm it for me.

Re: Sorry.. another formula question
I prepare as I need it. When we go out I prepare with water in the bottle (we use distilled water @ room temperature) and I bring in my formula container & prepare when I need it! My DS likes it warmed so I just put in a cup of hot water if home or out!

Re: Sorry.. another formula question
When she was a NB we made a pitcher of formula at night and heated it up as she needed it. Once she was about 3 months we stopped warming bottles and we generally made them as she needed them.
When we were out we brought bottles of water and mixed the powder in when she needed it.
