Sorry for all the questions...but does this sound like gas or acid reflux...i wish i knew..

Im sure some of you have been reading my posts...

My DS was at the GI doc a week ago. He was found to have blood in his poops. The doc put him on elecare. I thought that was the answer to his problems, but it isnt. The kid is extremely uncomfy when eating kicks his legs, cries when i burp him, makes god aweful moaning noises when he is eating, he doesnt sleep well at night (and I have him sleeping in the car seat to keep him upright), spits up at every feed even with the formula thickened, coughs every now and then and get the most horrible hiccups.

He is on Axid 3 times a day but not sure if this is gas/formula related or if is really bad acid reflux.

Im at my wits end. I feel so bad for him. Im calling the gastro doc today to see if i can get an appt. and maybe switch his meds and maybe then can test his poop again. I thought the formula would help.

My question is, do you think this is acid reflux or maybe extreme gassiness. I dont think he is colic. He does fuss ALOT, but he doesnt cry for hours on end. Its clear that something is bothering this kid. He is gaining weight but there's gotta be something else that is bothering him.

I could have written this exact post at one point...except my son doesn't spit up, and is on prevacid.

I thought that elecare was going to be a miracle, but the fact is that his reflux is sooo bad....at 6 1/2 months, he DEF is much more comfortable....I found once he started sitting (5 months) there was a big improvement...but he still doesnt sleep through the night

I would talk to the dr about a different med...I know prevacid is stronger than axid/zantac...again, I thought this was going to be the miracle answer, but it wasn't.

We also give mylanta 2-3 times a day.
