Sorry I am so late posting, but Aaron Stone arrived on Dec 12 - Added my Birth Story Details
Hi Everyone,
Our little guy, Aaron Stone, arrived 2 weeks early on December 12 at 6:45 am in the morning. He was 8lbs 5oz and 20 3/4 inches.
My labor progressed so fast, that I ended up giving birth in our playroom among Superhero guys, Toy Story characters, trains, Scooby Do etc...
My husband and mom delivered him. It was a scary, amazing, painful, and crazy experience and I never want to do that again.
Thankfully, Aaron came out perfect with no complications.
Here are a couple pf pictures of out little guy!
Edited to added Birth Story:
I can look back and kinda see it as exciting now, but it was really scary and painful. It just happened so fast. On Sunday, December 12 at 1:30 am ,I noticed the contractions and stayed in bed until 4:30 am, just kinda dozing, I was uncomfortable, but nothing crazy.
My 2 1/2 yr old son Gavin , got up at 4:30 am and asked for chocolate milk. I told Phil it was time, to get up get ready and get dressed. I packed, did a couple of last minute things, called my mom at 5:30 am, took a shower, shaved my legs (figures, it was just my mom and Phil benefitting from my smooth, soft legs, LOL).
I had a crazy bad contraction while brushing my teeth. My mom got to my house at 6:30 am and I went downstairs to see my mom. She was drinking coffee and I asked her where my Dad was. She said he is on his way.
I went to the dining room to get a bag, a crazy, intense, painful contraction came on and my water broke and I felt the strong urge to push.
My mom got me to the playroom, yelled to Phil to call 911 (Phil was outside putting the bags in the car). I was lying on the floor, collapsed and succumbed from painful contractions surrounded by son's Superhero guys and Toy Story guys and saying to myself, 'This f u c k i n g can't be happening!"
Phil originally thought we just needed to get to the hospital faster, so when the dispatcher asked Phil if I was having the baby he originally said No, LOL. Then my husband took one look at me and saw Aaron’s head (I had crowned). My mom had taken my pants off and she saw I crowned. You might think I was embarrassed, but I was in so much pain I could care less and just wanted the pain to stop.
The dispatcher talked Phil through the delivery and me screaming things you never thought would come out of my mouth. To me it felt like an eternity, the pain was insane and unbelievable. I pushed 3 or 4 times and he was out in Phil's hands, Phil gave him to my mom to dry off, I don’t remember when or who got towels, but they were there. Phil ran to get a shoelace to clamp the cord and my mom washed him off.
Aaron was alert, eyes open and moving around. My mom wrapped him in towels and held him the whole time. I kept asking if he was okay and she said he is fine, he is looking right at me and moving around. She asked me if I wanted to hold him and I said no. I really needed to get myself together and I was still shaking from the pain.
The police came, then the ambulance came and they brought us to the Stony Brook hospital. Phil was holding Aaron and I was in the stretcher with an IV and oxygen. It was a horrible ride, I was still having contractions because I needed to deliver the placenta and I just wanted to get to the hospital. Plus, since I work at Stony Brook, I knew exactly how long the ride would take.
When we got to the hospital, they delivered the placenta, which really helped with the contractions/pain. The only thing that went our way that day was that Dr. Jennifer Johnson was the doctor on duty who would repair me. You have no idea how happy I was when they told me that. Dr. Johnson is one of the most comforting people I know and I was so relieved to see and talk to her. I kept telling her that too.
I didn't get to see Aaron until around 3 pm that day, due to me being repaired, passing out in the bathroom due to loss of blood and the nurses trying to revive me, etc… Once I was stable, they brought him in and I was able to nurse him for the 1st time. I kept him with me for the rest of my hospital stay.
I ended up having a blood transfusion, which at first I was not going to do because it really grossed me out having someone else’s blood enter my body. However, between my mom, a good friend, and the doctors they told me it would be the best thing for me and for Aaron. I was really weak, pale, dizzy, lightheaded due to the loss of blood and due to the fact that no one really knew how much I lost.
As soon as the transfusion was over, I did feel so much better. I guess you don’t realize how much having the adequate amount of blood and oxygen going through your body helps until you don’t have enough.
Aaron is doing awesome, he eats a lot and gained almost a 1 pound the first week he was home. Gavin is adjusting to his little brother and says how much he loves him. Gavin has a cold, so I am trying my best to keep him away from Aaron and disinfecting everything.
Hopefully, since I am nursing, Aaron will be fine and is getting my antibodies to fight the germs.
Aaron Stone is 2 weeks and 1 day old, I added another from today. He is the best Christmas present and I am so thankful we had no complications and that my son Gavin slept through the whole thing. He sleeps with a sound machine, so I really think that helped and God was doing us a favor. I was so concerned about Gavin and just praying he wouldn't wake up from me screaming. Thankfully, he didn't :)
In the ER, when we got to the hospital with Daddy who delivered him.
Don't mind how pale I am, I lost alot of blood and had to have a blood transfusion the following day.
