Sorry, two more questions IVF
1 - if not too personal how much does it cost each time?
2 - Was it successful the 1st time you did it?
Thanks so much, sorry for all the questions. We are seeing the RE tomorrow for a plan and I want to have as much info as possible going in...

Re: Sorry, two more questions IVF
Depends on your insurance. I have UHC and first time my out of pocket was 2300 and second was a frozen transfer out of pocket copay was 1000. First cycle did not result in a pregnancy. I have my beta tomorrow for my frozen cycle still waiting (I did take a hpt 4 or 5 days ago and it was negative but u never know until the Beta.

Re: Sorry, two more questions IVF
1. it depends on your insurance. i had coverage and paid nothing other than meds/office copays. at the time Dr. B accepted insurance though (not just OON) so i was able to take advantage of my $30k lifetime maximum infertility coverage. from the amount billed to the insurance company it appears like my cycle cost about $9-10k before meds.
2. for me it did, and other than mild OHSS due to high e2 and a slightly sluggish stim at the beginning, we pretty much had a textbook IVF cycle. i have a 6m old DD thanks to IVF #1. we froze 8 embies and when we are ready for baby #2 if my cycle comes back ever (I have PCOS) we may try naturally for a little while, and if my cycle doesn't return normally we will go directly to an FET.

I also have UNH. It says 10K lifetime coverage for this. So its over $12K for the fresh cycle?

Re: Sorry, two more questions IVF
(1) My insurance paid about $7,000 just for the procedure. It's more OOP.

depending on your doctor $10k lifetime will get you prob 1 cycle with maybe a little leftover. also make sure the $10k is for IVF and that anything else infertility related isnt under the $10k, cause if its all infertility you may already have your appts billed under it. i was lucky that my RE billed everything under PCOS otherwise i wouldve had much less of my $30k available (although in the end it doesnt matter cause im unfortunately changing insurances anyway)..

Re: Sorry, two more questions IVF
1. It depends on insurance. CT passed a fertility mandate that requires Infertility coverage, up to 6 IUI's and 2 Fresh Rounds of IVF. Ballpark figure we paid around $2,500 which includes the cryopreservation of the embies, meds, and co-pays.
2. 1st round negative. FET successful

Re: Sorry, two more questions IVF
My insurance covers 75% of 3 IVFs and FETs. For me, this translates to $1250 for a fresh cycle and $1000 for a frozen... but it's very different for everyone depending on your insurance, so my coverage has no baring on whats yours will be. (unless you have the same plan )
My first IVF cycle worked and I had triplets, although I lost them all just short of my 8wk appt. Two embryos took and one split, so I had a set of identicals.

Re: Sorry, two more questions IVF
My insurance fully covered it and each cycle drew down on my lifetime coverage by $8k.
My first IVF did not work, but my 2nd fresh cycle did. I had no embryos to freeze either cycle
Good luck!

Re: Sorry, two more questions IVF
1) My insurance doesn't cover IVF. I took Dr. B's 2+2 plan, which means you buy two rounds of IVF, then get two free. We thought this was the best idea with my issues. It cost $12,500 OOP for round 1, and would have cost the same for round 2 if we needed it. If we hadn't opted to do that plan, one round would have cost $9750.
2) Yes, round 1 did work...I'm currently 10.5 weeks PG (and still in shock about it! )
ETA: That cost is not counting copays for the covered meds and OOP fees for the ones that weren't covered. I honestly stopped keeping track!

Re: Sorry, two more questions IVF
1.for everything except meds it is costing us about 3500..then 950 for each frozen or fresh after...meds r a whole other story and we r oop for that and that is gonna be a pretty penny
just wanted to add it is that much because we r using oon coverage, would be cheaper if we went in network
2.will let u knwo as this is our first time
