Two questions .. Come in if you've done IVF before or take prednisone!

Two questions .. figured I'd combine them in the same post.

1- I stopped the pill Thursday but have NOT gotten AF. I thought you're supposed to get AF before starting stims........ what have your experiences been? I can still get started right? I remember for my last cycle, I did get AF before starting.

I emailed Dr.B last night but haven't heard back yet and I feel bad emailing again today on a holiday.......

2- I'm starting prednisone for the first time. Do I take that with food? Chat Icon

Not sure about #1. Hope Dr. B gets back to you on that one soon.

As for #2 - yes, definitely take the Prednisone with food. Or, with a big glass of milk.

GOOD LUCK!!! Chat Icon

1st IVF cycle I did not take BCP. 2nd IVF cycle I took BCP for 3 weeks and then had a light bleed prior to starting stims. I was instructed to call my doc when I first started to bleed, they saw me next day, and stims began that night. As for #2, I never took predisone, but I took another med like it and always ate with it - even if a light meal. Wishing you lots of luck this cycle!!!Chat Icon Chat Icon Chat Icon

I had a lot of issues with prednisone. The first time I took it I was up all night going to the bathroom. I was not told to take it with food but to spread the 2x I was taking it out. I would get up and take it at 6am and then at 3pm. It took me a while to finally figure out what times worked for me and would not have me up all night. I lost a ton of sleep because of the constant getting up. I think that for each person the side effects are different. Chat Icon

When I was on BCP, I spotted the whole time. I think AF didn't come in full force until the day after I started stims - the NP in my RE's office wasn't concerned, but I would check with your RE anyway. GL!Chat Icon

Is a glass of milk really enough to have it with instead of a food? That would be great because I'm not much of a breakfast person!!

Thank you ladies!! As far as my #1 question, I actually did email him again Chat Icon which I feel terrible doing on a holiday but there are some things I'm supposed to start this morning .. I'm seriously sitting here with a suppository in my hand, refreshing my email Chat Icon Chat Icon Chat Icon I'm sure it's fine .. but I just learned in going through this to never assume anything and always double check.

update: He responded in typical Dr.B fashion... straight and to the point, and wrote: "yes" Chat Icon Chat Icon Chat Icon Chat Icon

For me, it is! I usually take 1 pill in the morning after having a bowl of cereal, and 1 pill at night around 9 pm with a glass of milk (Prednisone also greatly helps my chronic pain, so I take it later on to sustain me through to the morning).

That said, you'll have to see how your body reacts, but try it! Chat Icon

Thanks Chat Icon so far I took it with a granola bar. I think I'm gonna find out if I can take my "am" dose with lunch though..... that would just make t so much easier since I normally don't eat breakfast. I know it's the most impt meal of the day Chat Icon

I take it with breakfast (you can take it with a few crackers or a light snack if you don't eat breakfast.) Then when I take the 2nd dose at O, I take it at dinner too. I used to take it before bed without food, but if I didn't go to bed right away, it gave me heartburn. I'm not sure if that was the Femara though.
