Sort of a stupid question for training for the half....
I was going to stop my two spin classes a week to focus more on running, but my spin instructor, who is also doing the half and is a trainer, told me I should continue with the spn classes. I felt if it would be better if I devoted all my time to running for this, but she told me I will still have what I need if I held onto these 2 classes instead of replacing them with runs.
Obviously, I will add more running to my schedule, but will spin help me with my cardio endurance during a run?

I continued with spin class when I trained and yes, I think it definitely helps. Most training programs call for cross-train days so I did that for x-training. I would stick with it!

i cross train once a week on a bike. so definitely keep the spin class, if you want only go once a week and run on the other day you normally go.

Re: Sort of a stupid question for training for the half....
My cousin teaches spin and probably spins more than she runs - she was #2 in the LI 10K last year - so yes - you can do it.
whenever I talk to her about a race, she says she hasn't been running, only spinning and then wins or nearly wins.
Spinning is definitely a form of cross-training which can be useful in training plans. As long as you are not replacing spin for your long run, I think it's OK

Most training plans I have seen include some form of crosstraining.
I think crosstraining is very beneficial to include in any plan. It gives your joints a rest (especially your knees!) and depending what type of XT you do will target new muscles groups.
My dad is a hardcore runner and he takes a spin class once a week. It's a nice way to give your body a break from running but still maintain fitness.

I would stick with the spinning; not only is it good crosstraining, but it's good to do a spin class the day after you do a longer run, it helps loosen the legs up!
