A stupid question about crate training.
Please don't laugh...but is a crate the same thing as a cage? What goes in it? Do I put a pet bed in it?

Yes, it is the same thing. I have a sheet and a fleece blanket in my dog's, but they do sell mats for them.

Re: A stupid question about crate training.
I put a bed in it but she would end up peeing and ruin it so I started just using a towel.

Re: A stupid question about crate training.
The open cage type ones usually come with a black plastic tray inside the bottom so if they have accidents, it doesn't ruin the floor underneath. Some also have vertical separators which are important because you can buy one that's big enough to fit the pup when they're adults but use the separator to keep it smaller when they're puppies.
They should only have enough room to lay down, stand up and turn around, or they will have accidents in the crate.
I bought a mat for it first, he ripped it and ate it. Then I bought a dog bed that we slipped inside. Ditto. Thank God he didn't choke! Then I took an old knit blanket, cut it, and taped it to the plastic tray so there was no extra fabric lying around. Finally, success!

I have the 2nd kind with a rug in the bottom (doormat size happened to fit mine perfectly) then I have a crate pad & a fleece blanket in there for her to snuggle into, she rearranges it to her liking

Re: A stupid question about crate training.
I have the cage that has the plastic intsert bottom. I have a blanket lining the bottom, 2 pet beds (pillow looking ones), and a fleece throw.
I keep my 2 pups in the same cage and have no accdents (well once in a blue moon)
