Sort of parenting related....
DH had 2 days off in a row.....he's been cleaning since he made breakfast this AM....
I feel like THE worst wife/housekeeper/mother.....
part of his OCD's is clutter....I had no idea he'd wake up at night because it bothered him so much

Mine would do the same. Don't feel bad. You are a fantastic mother, that is why your house is a mess. You worry about and take care of the more important things

get this out of you head and tell yourself that you have THE best husband/provider/father.
He's pitching in because he's a great man.

Re: Sort of parenting related....
Shana- we all have *our thing*. Mine is DEFINITELY not being a housewife. My poor DH is always the one cleaning. AND he is usually the one to cook dinner. I tell him all the time that he is "the BEST wife."
That said, I am the one who does the brunt of the childcare when we are both home.
Don't feel bad at all. What I find is helpful on my guilty conscience is telling him how much I appreciate all that he does-he really seems to like that.

Re: Sort of parenting related....
My DH and I sound the same. I think if anyone came into my home they wouldn't think it was dirty or cluttered, etc. but my DH does. He says I have a "higher tolerance for squalor" I say wouldn't it be boring if we were all the same?
Anyway, last week, for the 1st time in 4 years of marriage, he came home unexpectedly in the middle of the day for something. And wouldn't you know it...the house IS a wreck (toys, books, puzzles) and I'm exhausted, laying on the couch watching Sesame Street with Kate--which is like the 1st time I'd ever done that. He just laughed, but I felt SOOO guilty. I told my mom and she said, "Erin, you stay at home to spend time with your children, NOT clean your house." Which is like one of the only supportive things she's ever said ...so...I'll take it and you know what...it's true!!

Re: Sort of parenting related....
My DH is JUST like that. I told him, hey we were together for 13 years, if you don't like it, clean it yourself.

Can I get an AMEN?? This is *so* true....the kids come first...that is what makes you a great Mom. The house just has to wait sometimes.
HUGS....stop berating yourself or the job you do. The fact is, the "success" of how well you do your job is measured in the smiles your children show on their beautiful faces!

Agreed! if he were an a$$hole, he'd complain about it, instead, he's helping you out and taking care of it himself. Enjoy this and be happy about it! It's a team effort in raising children and holding down a household.

Re: Sort of parenting related....
My DH is the SAME EXACT way. We argue about the clutter constantly. Do NOT feel bad about that!!! Seriously, you are a wonderful mom. Cleaning is so not important. You spend your time on the much more important stuff (raising your kids.) And, like Janice said, be glad you have a DH who will help out with the cleaning. Mine would help too if only he had the time... (or so he says ) He works too much to have any time to help me with stuff like that.
