Sort of spinoff: How and when did your DS start to like superheroes?

My DS will be 5 next month and is not into superhero stuff. He might like it if he plays with it somewhere, but he never asks for them. He hasn't seen any of the movies, so maybe that's why...

I saw all the Thor stuff in Target today. I didn't even know that was a kids' movie...

My ds was in to super hero stuff from 3.5 yrs to 6 yrs old. He is done with that now. He probably picked it up from his older cousins.

My older son got into it in PreK mostly (4.5-5ish). Boys in his class talked about it and he was interested so DH and I taped a view shows and figured out which seemed best to let him watch. He watched a few and loved it and became obsessed for a bit. He is in Kindergarten and already is passed it - it moved so fast...he'll play with them here and there but now is all about Star Wars (also from hearing his PreK friend stalk about it).

My 3 yr old knows it all from his big brother.

Same. I hear Star Wars lasts pretty much through elementary school.

Around 3-4 years old.

I read somewhere that it's when they discover "scary" things that happen, monsters, stranger danger, etc. May have been in Parenting Magazine...

The article said something along the lines of girls becoming interested in magic, fantasy & boys into superhero things because it made them feel more in control of things they can't control.

I'm pretty sure Logan's first words were "I am Ironman."

I was thinking about this when I saw the bday gift post. DS is 5 and he can recognize Spiderman but that's it. Somebody gave him an Ironman figure sometime back-he plays with just like any other toy. He hasn't watched any of the movies(for that matter, he can't sit through any movie at all). Do your kids watch the movies-and do you screen them from the ultraviolent parts?

He was almost five but mainly because his favorite friend in pre-k loves superheroes, my son had never actually seen movies or tv shows with them in it. Somehow he branched out into Transformers and Super Mario figures most recently.

Damien is 7 and he can take them or leave them. He knows who they are but isn't into them. He is obsessed with sports instead. He will watch any sport and I mean any (he was watching bowling a couple of weeks ago because it was the only sport on TV Chat Icon )

I think it depends on the kid and the kids friends.Chat Icon
