South Nassau Communities Hospital?
Has anyone delivered there? How was your experience? What are there rules about husbands, guests, during the birth etc. Who was your gyno/obs that was affiliated with the hospital.
thanks

Re: South Nassau Communities Hospital?
I delivered there. It is beautiful since they re-did it. The rooms are all private with wood floors and flat screen TV's. The nursing staff is friendly and wonderful. You husband can visit between 9-9, but to be honest they never asked DH to leave outside of the hours. I think visiting hours for everyone else were from 12-8, if I remember correctly. I used LI Women's Health Care in Bellmore. It is a great group of doctors that I have been going to for years but the weekend that I delivered not one of them was on call, so I delivered with a dr. from another practice in Cedarhurst. I was really ****** about it and still am, but the dr. who delivered me was excellent.

I also delivered there with my son who is 2 now and will with my baby due in August. I delivered there pre-renovations so I am sure all is new and I hear the visiting hours are different as well. I had a great experience. The nursing staff were all very nice and helpful. My son was in the NICU for 5 days and had great treatment from the doctors and nurses there. I also use the LI Womans Health Center in Bellmore. Right now there are 3 doctors in the practice who deliver. With my son there were 4.
jellybean - why weren't any drs from Bellmore on call on that weekend? Is this usual practice? I was not aware of this and would be PO'ed as well if I got a doctor I did not know and was not made aware that this is the case. I don't think it was the case when I deloivered with my son. I have a OB visit in 2 weeks so I will definitely be asking about this.

None of the Dr's I met w/ was on-call either (and I think I met w/ everyone in the practice) when I delivered, but luckily I met the mid-wife at the appt prior to delivery and she told me she would see me on Saturday, and I at 8:34 p.m. Saturday I called her to tell her my water broke As for the hospital they were in the middle of renovations, but it was still very clean, so I can imagine what it looks like now, and the nurses were all really nice, I was in quite a few times so I got to make some friends, and requested my favorites..
