Southern State traffic - Question

SSP drivers - how much traffic will I sit in tonight at 6pm going east from the MEadowbrook? or, by some miracle, will it all be gone then?

There is a TON of traffic between the Meadowbrook and the Wantagh so beware!!

it will take you about 30 minutes extra than a normal drive- i would guesstimate! Chat Icon

A LOT....sometimes I would take Ocean Pkwy....just so I could move.

Yes, a lot between meadowbrook and wantaugh, and then it lightens up a bit, then gets really heavy again around 110. I'd consider it a lot of traffic!!

i mean, i was on it the other day at 6pm and it took me thirty minutes to get through it but it was NOT fun-- so do this Chat Icon

If you can, take Ocean. Much prettier drive and much, much less traffic!

I would probably take Ocean also. There is a backup out near Oakdale but by 6:30 - 7:00 it starts to clear up.

I avoid the Southern State Parking Lot at all times.
