Why on earth would they give the baby back when it had a black eye?
Yeah - I can't believe that. That poor little girl.

If she is comfortable enough to slap the child in public, i would bet my home, there is much worse going on at home. Slapping a one year old in the face because you are aggrivated? Learn self control, animal. People who intervene in these situations could be saving a life.

ok so she slapped the baby in public and the baby had a black eye that they "said" was unrelatd. who knows what these people do behind closed doors??? I can't believe it wasn't taken more seriously. People are so afraid of getting sued these days that you can't take any action until something happens and it's too late!!

this is sick. You will hear about this family again, hopefully someone has the guts to make a better CPS report and take this child to a loving family.

Re: Southwest flight attendant removes child from abusive parents inflight!
seriously....
The child did have a black eye, ABC reports, but the Cids told police it was caused by an uncle's dog.
RIIIIIIIIIIIIIGHT
I'm sorry but this is wrong. You open hand slapped a 13mo. That is NEVER ok. End of story
I have a 24mo and my hand is the size of her whole face. If I were to slap her she'd not understand why but would be scared of me for a long while.
This baby was 13mo old. Clueless to abuse like that. No, No, No.
They need to at LEAST be seen by CPS and check up on. Child Advocacy should be assigned to that child. This shows plenty of cause.
I can't BELIEVE they bought the dog story so easily! ugh. This is why child abuse is so easy. Because until its fatal, repeatedly caught or if the child finally runs away, we just don't have the time to make the effort to investigage further. We don't have the funds to invest in the safety of our children, we don't want to upset the parent's right to raise their child.
Ugh.
I'm not saying it wasn't what they say it was but I'd HOPE that someone would have made danged sure it was the truth at the very least.

Re: Southwest flight attendant removes child from abusive parents inflight!
When I was a flight attendant I always whenever the airport police were called. They almost NEVER followed up on those we had removed from the plane. No one had ever been arrested- even when laws were clearly broken.
I even had a guy who ODed on his anti-psychosis meds and went so crazy on the plane that we had to physically restrain him, then zip tie his hands together to keep him from hurting himself and others. NOTHING was done other than sending him to the hospital- even though he physically assaulted a crew member.
Unless someone is willing to put up $$$$ to press charges, no one does anything. Not the police, not the FAA, and certainly not the cash-strapped airlines.
