Spanish field trip
I am an elementary school Spanish teacher and would love to plan a field trip for one of my grades. Any suggestions for something related to the subject area?
TIA

Re: Spanish field trip
maybe something like a trip to the grocery store or other thing in the community but gear it towards vocabulary? make a scavenger hunt of items and they have to find them, but only give them the words in SPanish? (that might be to ohard for your kids, i don't know?)
or perhaps a restaurant (mexican for example) where they could speak basic Spanish with staff and read off the menu?

Re: Spanish field trip
Don Juan's in Westbury (across from the Source Mall) does like a lunch/bingo activity (or at least they did when I student taught in 2001). It's geared towards younger/earlier Spanish learners and very cute. The winners get sombreros.
I also received something in the mail from the Tilles Center at C.W. Post about a Flamenco presentation - maybe you could take them on a trip to see that?
I know the Repertorio Espanol in the city does plays and other activities, but that is probably too advanced for elementary school children.

Re: Spanish field trip
Thanks for the ideas!
We actually go to a Mexican restaurant each year and the kids LOVE it! I will check out the performance at the Tilles Center.
Thanks!
