Spanish or Portuguese Water Dog?
Does anyone have this breed of dog? My friend is interested in getting one but needs to see if her son will react to the fur beforehand (even though they are hypoallergenic)

I don't know about that breed, but I do know there is no such thing as a hypoallergenic dog breed.
It's basically some people will react to certain breeds more or less..all depends.

It can also be the saliva they are allergic to. I would bring him to the breeders house if possible if you can't find someone who owns one. However it can also be individual to the specific dog, even within an allergy friendly breed.

That's part of the problem. She's trying to find a breeder in the area.

Re: Spanish or Portuguese Water Dog?
My dad has a PWD. We have quite a few friends/extended family members who are allergic to dogs and they are fine with her. My aunt is highly allergic to fur and she takes the dog when my dad is out of town. I can't guarantee that every person would be fine with one, but in my experience ours has been tolerated by a number of people with allergies.
