Re: speaking of maternity clothes
me too.... I know I'll have to give up my jeans soon. They fit, but the waist band puts a bit of pressure on my belly.... not comfy, and probably not healthy either

Re: speaking of maternity clothes
I started buying maternity work pants quite early. Probably around 8 or 9 weeks just because the bloating was so bad. I'm not showing at all, but once the bloating kicked in, i found myself sitting at my desk with my pants unbuttoned.
I have yet to buy any maternity shirts yet.

Re: speaking of maternity clothes
i would try to see how long you can wear the bella band and would maybe buy just one pair of pants or jeans. otherwise, you are going to end up spending a fortune over the course of this pregnancy

Re: speaking of maternity clothes
My regular work pants to my suits are still fitting (jackets I wear unbuttoned!!) but I do wear maternity tops for work & have been doing so since about 14 weeks & I am almost 19 weeks now. I only wear maternity jeans otherwise since about 14 weeks also!

Re: speaking of maternity clothes
I'm 17 weeks (today or tomorrow I forget!) and I am wearing regular tops but maternity bottoms.
I think I am pushing it a little but my place of work is chilly and I don't want to buy maternity sweaters when the bulk of my 3rd trimester will be warmish.

Re: speaking of maternity clothes
I was very bloated in the first trimester so I wore my "fat" pants that I usually wore during PMS. I also used a rubber band to keep the top of the pants closed because I couldn't leave them buttoned. I started wearing maternity clothes in my second trimester. My shirts were still fitting but my pants were too tight!

Re: speaking of maternity clothes
I also found i felt quite bloated in the 1st trimester, so i wore my 'fat pants'.....I would say I got maternity pants around 15-16 weeks and could still get away with longer nonmaternity tops because there were so many babydoll/empire wasted tops out

Re: speaking of maternity clothes
i am still able to wear my work pants but jeans are another story. i bought a bella band and it has helped a lot (i am only 6 1/2 W but i gained a lot of weight after the honeymoon so NOTHING fits me anymore!).
most of the shirts that i own are big and stretchy enough to last me a while. i won't buy maternity pants until i am desperate.

Re: speaking of maternity clothes
I was lucky. Both of my sisters had tons of maternity clothes that were in great condition so I have barely bought any. I bought like two things. I started wearing maternity pants around 11 or 12 weeks, I think.

Re: speaking of maternity clothes
I didn't need shirts until 15-16 weeks. I wore maternity pants around 10-11 weeks. It was that or rubberband the button of my pants closed.

Re: speaking of maternity clothes
I started wearing maternity pants by about week 11 or 12. Prior to that I used a Bella Band with my regular pants.
I only started using maternity shirts at about week 17 or 19.

Re: speaking of maternity clothes
i needed maternity pants by 14 weeks. this was much more comfortable than the closing them with a rubberband i started wearing some maternity tops around 17 weeks. I'm 24 weeks now and mostly wear maternity tops but i can definitely still wear some of my regular shirts because of the current styles.

Can someone please tell me what a Bella Band is? I've never heard of it!
The Bella Band is a seamless knit band you wear at your waistline, over your unbuttoned pre-pregnancy pants, over slightly big maternity pants, or around the waistband of any maternity style that falls down around your hips. The Bella Band holds your pants up, disguising bulky unfastened closures or excessive fabric creating a smooth belly surface. Now, no one has to know your pants are undone or loose. Wear the Bella Band concealed, or let it peek out from under your top for that hip, layered look. If your top rises, it looks like a t-shirt or camisole -- not a funky mechanism to expand your waistband or hold up your pants

Re: speaking of maternity clothes
I think I started buying around 10 weeks after having a meltdown because none of my clothes fit right. Not that I looked pregnant to anyone but me but I felt so uncomfortable. I was wearing maternity clothes almost exclusively by 13 weeks.

At around 10 weeks. I felt that my clothes were tight and just made me look fat.
