How many words was your DC saying?
Or how much should they be saying?
Thanks

i'm not sure really maybe 300+ but his speech therapist says he has a very advanced vocabulary.
i think there is a HUGE range at this age and at 18 months they should have about 15+ words. there are a few slp's on here, hopefully they'll post.

Re: Speech at 20 Months
Marcie - this is from my EI packet:
18-24 months:
Says 50 words Uses "hi" and "Bye" Understands approx. 300 words Points to 5 body parts Combines words to make two-word phrases
HTH a little - I have a huge list here so let me know if you have any other questions!
Again, this is completely a range. Some children may do/say these things at 18months - some closer to 24. Some after 24!

Re: Speech at 20 Months
Thank you for posting this. Our son is 20 mo. He says alot of hi and bye and a few other things that are clear as day. ALot of his words are things that only we understand. He can point to 8 or 10 body parts. What you posted just made me feel a little better!
I was thinking of calling EI for a speech eval since he does a TON of just gibber jabber all day long but only 35 or so real words that make sense. He understands everything you say or tell him to do. I may call anyway but your post put me a bit at ease.

Re: Speech at 20 Months
Christopher is 20 months, he has 100+ words and has been speaking in 2 and 3 word (and sometimes longer) sentences for a while.
