Speech + contacting school district
can anyone tell me what the procedure is to contact my school district to have my 3yo evaluated for speech? What steps should I take? My LO already goes to speech through my insurance but if it is free from the school--I would like to either add a day w/them or switch completely. Thanks!

Re: Speech + contacting school district
All you need to do is call your sd that you live in. Tell them you would like to have your child evaluated . They will want a copy of your tax bill if you rent a letter from your landlord to prove you live within the district. Than they set up an appointment to talk about your concerns and than your child will be evaluated. After the evaluation they than have a meeting with the agency who evaluated the child. The sd and a person from the county to determine services.

If you would like, send me FM me your school district and I will give you the CPSE chair for your district. You will just call them and say your child receives private speech therapy and you would like them evaluated for CPSE (Committee on Preschool Education). They will have you fill out paperwork and then pick an evaluating Agency. I am a Service Coordinator for EI so I have all CPSE contact info.
