someone was telling me that speed walking actually does more harm than good to a woman, something having to do with the pelvic area? Anyone ever hear of this. Thoughts?

I really have no idea, however if you are considering this and are concerned I would check with an orthopedic that work with athletes that you trust.
There is so much out there that tells you that running is bad for you, bad for your hips and knees etc. Then you read runner's world magazine and they say it's all a fallacy and the running benefits outweight any negative side effect that can happen. Also stating that runners knees and hips are no weaker or endangered that other athletes.
So I just feel it's everything in moderation. I was running almost everyday and suffered a few injuries. Changed to running 3x a week and mixing in weights and spin etc and now am doing great for the most part. You do what works for you and stay intune with how your body is feeling and reacting to the regimine!
