So how is everyone doing? I just paid my cc bill, and as I guessed we have spent so much less on things overall but our food bill is just insane. We were fortunate to actually get a groupon refund for our vacation which we should be on right now.

Re: Spending
Our joint CC bill (which we call “the house card”) Was less than half of what it usually is. So definitely spending less. Not going out to eat every weekend or me buying something random at homegoods , etc

Re: Spending
I feel like I'm spending the same. Which is weird. But we still get take out on Fridays and we used to go out to dinner every Saturday so now we get take out from our favorite restaurants on Saturday. So we still have that expense.
And I shop online more now I think- I'm home, sad, bored- so Amazon makes me feel better- oh a cute romper, oh, let's try this skin care product , oh I need more joggers to lounge around in.
And then DH hasn't been to BJ's in a long time and he finally bit the bullet and went yesterday and spent a shit ton because he hadn't gone in so long and he doesn't want to go back as often so he stocked up.
The only thing i am saving on is gas- because I'm not going anywhere, and I'm using less make up so there is that. lol

Spending less overall. We are saving money on the daycare since kids are not in. We are trying to spend minimal but I did buy some new makeup and quarantine bras online. I would say we spend more on groceries and electricity being home, but spend much less on gas

Re: Spending
at the beginning of the quarantine i was spending a lot online. now, all my impulse buying has ended. i'm just buying the absolute necessary. i'm also entertaining myself with all of my hobbies... knitting, crocheting, sewing. there were so many projects i wanted to make.
i've been throwing a lot of money to pay off the last of my debt. i think i'm going to come out of the quarantine debt free.

Re: Spending
Spending less, still paying my usual bills. I havent spent money on clothes or non -essential items, because the stores are closed (Tk Maxx, Marshals, etc.) I am spending more on food. When I am out, I will buy more than usual, so I dont have to go to the store as much.

Definitely spending less. My DH has been doing the majority of our grocery shopping so he’s been paying for all of that. I’m not wandering around my favorite stores anymore so I haven’t been spending much at all on my credit cards.

Re: Spending
We just commented how gas has lasted us so much longer from the one commute not made everyday and other places that we haven’t gone to. Try and spend the same on food, maybe $10 or $20 more a week but even this week I only spent $2 more than usual.

Re: Spending
Ours will be about half of what it normally is but I am SHOCKED on how much I have spent on food and we have rarely done takeout. Also, all of my cash expenses (babysitters, tutors, housekeepers) are down to zero so I don't think my husband or I have hit an ATM in well over a month.

My FH normally drives a lot so we are saving a ton of money on gas. With us both working from home I am thinking our electric bill is going to be higher. We are spending a bit more on groceries because we did some bulk meat ordering so in the long run we will spend less.

Also, all of my cash expenses (babysitters, tutors, housekeepers) are down to zero so I don't think my husband or I have hit an ATM in well over a month. we have only done take out once, the rest of our groceries are either amazon, curbside delivery, or delivery to my house. I am leaving cash tips in my trunk for the person who puts the groceries into my car in addition to the tip I place on line to make sure that every person from those that pick to those that place get a tip. I have filled my gas up once since March 12th to today, April 21. My husband has not filled up his tank at all. So that was $35. We have been spending so much on groceries.
I do not know how for an average family that kind of spending is going to be possible long term. Yes, we are getting refunds on camp, and other things, but I don’t see how normal families will survive. We have donated to food banks and to other local community resources, but I am really fearful for so many people.

Same here about the food spending. Our weekly grocery trips have gone up $100-$150 and I'm not really sure why. We're not buying anything more than we usually do. Not sure if the stores aren't doing sales during this time...I guess I have to pay more attention at the register.

Wow that is a lot. Only 1 store have prices seem higher as they are not doing as much sales. I shop weekly and pretty much know how much things cost so that seems like a huge jump from your regular budget on groceries.

We have never been big spenders. My grocery bill seems to be higher but I’m only going once every 7-9 days. I usually go 3-4 times a week with one of those being a big shop. We have been using no gasoline but our heat and electric are going to be higher now so that’s a wash.
ETA: I do know I was picking up special treats for my son initially but not so much anymore. I’m also more apt to pick up 2 boxes of pasta if I see them when in the past, I’d only buy if they were on sale.

Spending way less. Zero on gas. Our food bill is 300 or so every 2 weeks. I did buy myself a spin bike but other than that my account is getting bigger!!! I realize how much I spend on crap.

My store has definitely reduced sales and increased at least some prices. The circulars are down to a single page, no store coupons. The large pack of chicken breasts which are usually 1.99 a pound were 4.99 this week for example.

Yep many are not giving any deals at all. I have had to pick through the meat section as the prices have gone way up.

Re: Spending
My spending is up. I have been making so many purchases from home of stuff on sale, but stuff that I probably don't need. Hubby does the perishable food shopping and he was coming back with almost nothing, but spending a lot. He finally went to costco and spent a lot,but my fridge and freezer are stocked with meat for a month. He is also shopping for his parents as we live in their house, but cook and eat completely separate from them.

We are probably spending in line with before the pandemic but we have been spending a lot on the house - we got trees taken down and I’m doing some redecorating after staring at the same walls for over a month.
I also just ordered new tshirts and sneakers but I returned a bunch of spring dresses I bought for now non-existent events.
Our grocery bills seem higher but we are going less frequently. We are eating out less and cooking more.

Re: Spending
Mine has been very low. I don't get clothes because I don't know when I could wear anything. I've gotten teeth whitenning strips, something for my eyelashes, mask for my hair and that's it. Grocery shopping has gone up, but DH does it. Fridge is full, and cleaning stuff, but he keeps getting more and more. Also we order out maybe 3 times a week, but is nothing compared to the bills we had when going out for dinner. Also wine... we've been buying more.

Re: Spending
Groceries have increased a lot , but our clothing spending is zero. This time of year we’d be spending a fortune on camp clothes. All activities , 2 vacations, and gym have been cancelled so that’s zero. Due to our always bad timing, our housing is a fortune. Paying a lease and mortgage and renovations that needed to be done prior to moving in. All $ has gone into the house payments and Reno.

Re: Spending
I actually think I am spending more. My grocery bill is stupid. I have had a bug up my butt in every single room in my house so we have already renovated the powder room. We are now renovating the master bath and then I am switching around my son's rooms and re-doing them. We also did our gardens. Oh! And I bought an intex pool and a sunbrella. Yeah, I'm totally out of control right now. LOL

Re: Spending
well, we didn't have to pay for 2 april monthly train passes, so that is a big savings. my last cc wasn't much less, but only about a week of quarantine fell in that pay period. This one might be less, but i did go on an online shopping spree last week. and we did get takeout a few times, but before, we were going out twice a week, and I was buying lunch a few times a week.

Probably more since I've been ordering on Amazon and we still get take out. The grocery stores aren't having sales AT ALL, so everything is jacked up there.

I forgot to add though I am also expecting a lot of money back and not spending on things I usually spend on for the kids - I'm expecting a refund for baseball, a concert we were going to and the pool we join for the summer. I'm also not expecting to pay more for basketball, camp, etc...
