spending the night in l&d :(...need positive vibes! UPDATE 3 Friday 7/22 AM
Hi ladies. I went to my ob for my glucose test and regular check up today at 24 weeks. Well they did an internal exam and found that I am one cm dilated and my cervix has shortened so they sent me right to Mt. Sinai hospital. :(
I was admitted so they can monitor me overnight and then tomorrow they will do some tests. Hopefully I can leave tomorrow evening but we will see. The good news is so far I don't seem to be contracting but they want to keep me monitored to make sure my little meatballs stay put.
Of course this happens when Dh is away on business. My mom and sister drove to the city to be at the hospital with me and Dh is cancelling his work mtgs tomorrow so he can come right back.
Ill keep you posted.
Send over some lif vibes for my twinnies!
Xoxo
Eta....please don't say anything on fb!
Update 7/20 am
So it appears I am having minor contractions. They are putting me on meds to slow it down. Have to stay here till at least tonight for an FFN test and another internal. Results of those will determine if I go home or stay another night. Blahhhh:(
Update 7/20 Wed Evening
Well it has been a rough day. I have still been contracting all day but still minor and am still on the medicine. I think it's called inthimiacine (sp?) or something. They did an internal this evening and my cervix is now completely shortened...went from 3.6 last week to under 2 I am in the hospital until at least friday at this point and will not be returning to work for the rest of my pregnancy regardless of when I go home. They are giving me steroids to help develop the babies in case they decide to make a very early appearance. They are also giving me a progesterone supp to try to stop my cervix from shortening any further. I have been trying to stay calm this whole time so far, but after seeing how short my cervix is and realizing how it really is possible they can come at 24 weeks, I broke down and was hysterically crying all evening. Finally calmed down...I know they are doing everything they can to keep these babies in as long as possible. Thank you all for your thoughts/prayers/advice. It really means a lot!!
Update 3: Friday 7/22 morning
I am still in the hospital and it doesn't look like I will be leaving anytime soon. My contractions are stopped for now bc of the meds, but because I got a positive on the FFN and my cervix is extremely short they are keeping me here...definitely through the weekend but possibly much longer. Although i'd love to be home, I do feel like I am safer being here where I am closely monitored. The plan is to take me off the inthimecin (sp?) and put me on something else like procardia. I am not really in any pain or anything...just uncomfortable in this hospital bed and sleepy bc I haven't slept much at all since I got here Tuesday. Dh has been here with me and has been great as well as my family. Also had a few friends visit which I definitely appreciate!!! All that matters is that the doctors are doing everything they can to keep my babies safe and we can try to get them past 30 weeks or as close to it as possible. Will update when I have more information.
Re: spending the night in l&d :(...need positive vibes!
Tons of hugs, thoughts and prayers to you and your twinnies!
I've been where you are and it is scary. The good news is you're not having contractions. The other good news is that you are in good hands exactly where you need to be if something is going on.
If you have any questions feel free to FM me. I'm home on strict bed rest with my twinnies and happy to help if I can!
Re: spending the night in l&d :(...need positive vibes!
Oh no!! Don't worry, they'll get it under control! You may have to go on some kind of bed rest, procardia and they may do some indomethicin for a few days to lengthen your cervix.
Re: spending the night in l&d :(...need positive vibes! Update wed am
