Spent my morning in tears (clothing related)

Ok, so I don't think I'm showing, I'm just incrediably bloated and gasy, TMI,(probably from all the fruits & salads I've been eating). Anyway, so I have a client in today and my business suits (2 of them with side zipper pants) wouldn't zip up (in fact the zipper was killing me when I sat down and they weren't even fully zippered). So now I'm stuck wearing a skirt with them. I was so bummed out, I wasn't expecting to outgrow my pants this fast. The blazers fit fine. Now, granted these are fitted suit pants. My jeans & khakis are fitting ok. Could it be that they are side zip pants? (which I hate anyway)

Should I go out and buy:
1-the maternity belt thingy that holds unzipped pants up?
2-2 pairs of maternity dress pants that will match my blazers?
3-non-maternity larger sized pants? (keep in mind I'm not a size 6 where getting 1 size bigger is an 8, I'm plus sized and I find the plus size pants are WAY to big in the thighs & calves for me. I just need it in the waist right now)

HELP!

I would just go right for hte maternity pants. I was not a huge fan of the bella band, the maternity pants are MUCH more comfy and you will end up buying them anyway. In the begininng it's normal to be bloated and not fit into your clothes so don't feel so badChat Icon

Even though not preggers myself, I would think that getting 2 pairs of maternity pants to match your blazers is the way to go. It is better to get comfy now then be miserable in clothes especially at work

Kerry, try getting the bella band at first. I wouldnt invest money into the next size regular clothes. Before you know it, you will need the maternity clothes.

Dont be depressed your clothes are snug for an awesome reason!Chat Icon Chat Icon Chat Icon

Try the bella band first.. but even if you have to buy a pair of maternity pants it is better to be comfortable.. the bloat will probably go back done and you will be able to fit into your stuff again.. that happen to me.. try not to worry

Re: Spent my morning in tears (clothing related)

I have a bella band and i love it.

I sympathize with you. I'm barely showing but I feel so uncomfortable in my clothes. Today is "jeans day" at work and I put on these maternity jeans that I bought. They are the most uncomfortable things in the world and it is making me co cranky. The belly piece is pressing on my stomach so hard. Maybe cause I'm not used to wearing pants that cover my stomach--most of my pants sit very low. I snapped at my bf this morning too because when I was complaining about how uncomfortable i was, all he said was, "well, you better make sure you return them then" and I was just looking for sympathy :(

I hope your day gets better!

I would buy 2 pair of maternity pants. You'll be so happy and comfortable once you have them on. And no more tears! You are pregnant!! It's a happy time and a good thing to get that buddha going! The time to think thin is in 10 months (or more!) from now.

Re: Spent my morning in tears (clothing related)

I bought 2 bella bands and they've worked well so far, especially for suits. Most of my regular pants are tighter, but still fit. I can't button up some of my suit pants though so the bella band has been a lifesaver. I also bought 2 or 3 cheap pairs of pants 1 size bigger. This in between stage sucks. Chat Icon

Re: Spent my morning in tears (clothing related)

i would go the bella band route first.
i think by the 2nd trimester you willl see more or less how you are progressing weight wise and then you can buy maternity pants..

maybe try to get a few more miles out of the pants you own now. if its just a matter of not zippering them all the way, then a bella band will fix the problem.
but once your pants are really uncomfortable, then def. buy some maternity gear!

good luck and hugs!!Chat Icon Chat Icon

Re: Spent my morning in tears (clothing related)

Kerry

NOTHING fits me. I cant even get into some of my capirs and stuff from last year and the ones I can come no where close to fitting. Even some my shirts (I usually wear pretty fitted clothing) are busting at the seams.

I wanted to at least hold out till the school year ends but I HAVE to go this weekend and get SOMETHING. The bella band works great on the stuff that I can actually get on, but some of it is way too small.

PS...I have LOST lbs since I found out but it is all migrating to my belly. Chat Icon

ITA with this. I HATED the bella band. It just didn't work for me. I spent the whole day adjusting it. I'd (and I did) go straight to maternity pants. Just make sure there's room to grow into them so you can get some good use out of them.

Re: Spent my morning in tears (clothing related)

If you need dressy (work) pants right away, I recommend to go run to Kohl's tonight or over the weekend. They have an AWESOME pair of pants that are dressy enough and have an adjustable waist band. They are super comfy and totally work appropriate!

Re: Spent my morning in tears (clothing related)

buy real maternity pants to match. ann taylor outlet online is great for maternity professional clothes... check out their sales section. Their clothes run a tad larger than other brands, so where I'm a 1X in motherhood, I'm an 18 in ann taylor.

My best advice is to try to focus upon pants that will transition well into the fall, since you'll get more wear out of them..... I was 7 weeks in Feb, and bought mainly jeans back then, since I could wear them all the time (barring this weekend, of course Chat Icon)

actually jeans aren't the issue, its the dress pants which have no give because they are fitted suit pants. GRRR. Looks like I'll be going shopping this weekend.

Re: Spent my morning in tears (clothing related)

well, around your time I began to feel horrible pressure from the waist bands of my pants anyway.... they FIT, they were just uncomfy, and I had to unbutton them anyway...

I recommend starting off with maternity pants with regular yet flexy waist bands, since the full belly panel pants will be too big for you for at least another couple months....

have fun shopping!
