Spent my Saturday night at L&D

I'll be 31w on Tuesday and Saturday night I started to get really bad pains....almost like horrible gas pains (sorry TMI) and cramping. I got really nervous that it wasn't going away so we called the on call doc and he told us to come right over to L&D.

Thank goodness everything is fine - baby was totally normal (she had the hiccups about 5 times on the monitors) and no dilating or anything whatsoever.

I on the other hand had some bacteria in my urine and an elevated white blood cell count so they kept me overnight for monitoring. Needless to say it wasn't the most comfortable 12hrs of my life but everyone at St.Catherines was AMAZING.

They released me this morning around 930am and just told me to relax and take it easy. I have to call my doc in the morning to follow up.

Anyway - long story short, anyone experience this? Have any knowledge of what elevated white blood cells could be??? The nurses seem to think I am fightlng off some sort of an infection but no fever or anything else to speak of.

9 more weeks to goooo!!!! Hopefully baby stays well and I can just keep my energy up to get through it all. Almost there!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

i had an elevated white blood cell count when i was in the hospital back in may... my OB wasnt concerned b/c he said that is common among pregnant women -- it was just slightly elevated

Thanks for the info on the elevated white blood cell count. Of course the nurses didn't tell me that!!!

I'm going for a follow up appt today with my doc since the on call doc never came into the hospital the whole 12hrs I was there - remind me again what the point of that was?!?!?!?!?!? Ughhh!!
