Sperm counts for IUI
DH had a SA back in January and things came back pretty good. Our plan was to proceed with IUI in April...
Went for 1st IUI today and post-wash his sperm count was lower than we expected. We proceeded with the IUI but our spirits are somewhat Total count was 20mill - post wash 8mill (RE wanted to see greater than 10mill). Motility 60% - post wash increased to 80%.
If you don't mind sharing - what were DH's counts post-wash for your IUI? And was it successful?
RE wants us to go back tomorrow to do a back-to-back as counts were low and we could use all the help right now.
Due to our schedules we abstained for a bit too long pre-IUI. Could that have affected the count? I would think it would be higher considering not having intercourse...but i truly don't understand the male sperm factory

Re: Sperm counts for IUI
Our counts are always in the 8-10 million mark also. I got preg twice from those counts. My doctor said maxium pregnancy rate occurs with anything over 7 million.

Re: Sperm counts for IUI
That is GREAT news - thank you! My RE seemed about the count but maybe she is just being overly cautious...

I really think it's fine.....like I said our numbers were always on the "low side" compared to what other people get and it worked twice for us.
We need to keep ourselves VERY busy for the next two weeks

Re: Sperm counts for IUI
For my last IUI (sorry to my DH for saying this) but his sample barely covered the bottom of the container. I was having a heart attack and the guy who does the washing told me not to worry bc they use the same volume for all of the IUI's and as long as it covered the bottom of the container, we were fine.
Don't stress too much!

Re: Sperm counts for IUI
I think DH's post was count was like- 70 million.
It didn't matter, I didn't get pregnant.
I know it's cliche, but it only takes one

Re: Sperm counts for IUI
Those counts are totally fine post-wash. I've gotten pg tons of times with those kind of numbers.

ITA... my DH's was over 70 million also, but that didn't matter.
My RE actually said anything over 5 million is "icing on the cake" - and plenty of people get PG with those numbers! Good luck!

Re: Sperm counts for IUI
ITA with the PP. Our counts were very high for both IUI but 1st did not work, in 2WW for 2nd. Your numbers are fine!
