What are normal sperm counts?
Does anyone know what a normal or "good" SA result would be? My DH's urologist only gave us the total count (1 million) and motility (20%). What other factors are there?

Re: What are normal sperm counts?
my dr. said anywhere between 40-60 million is normal. DH had 140 million on his first test
motility i think they said 50% is normal and DH had 77% the 2nd time around. the first time he had none, but thats b/c we overheated his sample. Yes..we overheated his sample...
I wouldnt freak yet though b/c there might be factors contributing to his low #'s that are easily treatable. Stress? medications? i believe temperture of the testicular area affects things. i've read that men who were tight undies have higher temps down there and thats not good. but then again...men have been wearing tightie whities for ever and make babies. But does DH have any medical conditions or on any medication??
did they tell you what the morphology was? thats important b/c that means their shape. and i think volume was also a term they used as well.

Re: What are normal sperm counts?
Switch to boxers! DH last count was 112 million but his morphology was a bit low...60% I think?
Lots of environmental factors come into play.
Don't sweat it. A good urologist can figure out what's going on and help get those swimmers to come to the party.
It only takes one little spermie though.

Re: What are normal sperm counts?
I'll find out from my RE his volume and morphology tomorrow. We just found out he has a varicocele (both sides), which I'm sure is what's causing the problem. He goes for an ultrasound on the 24th so we'll know more by then. In the meantime I guess I'll switch him to boxers. He just started acupuncture last week so hopefully that helps too.....
