Re: Spin Class

I've never done spin, but I'm planning on starting after I do the marathon in November (since I'll have to take a break from running). I'm so scared for the first class! Keep me updated on when it gets easier lol

Re: Spin Class

I will! The instructor was really nice she said everyone is at their own pace and whatever I do don't stop just keep peddling. Which I did..everytime i felt like iw as going to get sick I just slowed down like i was just casually riding my bike...i must say my Legs and butt are killing me today..getting down my stairs was a treat! LOL I'm planning on doing this 1 x a week on MOndays, but I might try Sat. morning depending how I feel..so I will let you know how it goes!

Good Luck with your marathon!! I wish I could do that! Maybe when I tackle spin that'll be my next challenge! Chat Icon

Re: Spin Class

It doesn't get easier but you do get more endurance. I always have a really tough workout during spin (I walk out drenched) but I am able to keep up more now. There is nothing better than a really good spin class!

Re: Spin Class

I hear that your butt really hurts from the seat the first few times. How long does that last? And do the spin shoes make a big difference from regular sneakers?

my butt def. hurt during, but after it felt more like my hoo haa Chat Icon and today I don't feel it but i think tha tmight be b/c the leg pain is worse Chat Icon Chat Icon Chat Icon

A friend of mine told me if I get serious about spin to invest in a seat cover from Modells to make it more comfy. As for the sneakers I wore my regular sneaker, and while I was fine with it I could see how a less bulky sneaker would probably work a little better.

Re: Spin Class

Good for you! As an instructor, i will tell you that's the goal I tell new students to set for themselves for the first class: Just finish and don't stop peddling the entire time!

Spin is fantastic because you control how much of a challenge the workout is.

As for the butt issue--do yourself a favor and get a gel seat. They are like 20 bucks at ****'s or sports authority and are WELLL worth it! It will totally improve your comfort level and you will be able to concentrate on the workout rather than howm uch your tush hurts!

Feel free to FM with any questions!

Hey Jean I have been spinning 2x a week for over 2 years now and I love it. Does your butt hurt in the beginning yes it does but it goes away quickly! Now it never hurts me anymore. As far as spin shoes they make a tremendous difference. I would try spin class a few times though and see if you like it first before getting the shoes:)

Thanks! I'm going to give it a few more classes before I invest in a seat to make sure it is something i'm going to stick with.

Thanks! I'm gonna try it after the marathon...I'll do it for a few weeks before I buy anything, but I'm excited to start something new!
