Spin off: c-section scar
HEre is my theory. If you are closed with staples your scar will be raised for at least 3 mo. plus. If you were closed up with stiches your scar will be flat. So I would like to take a poll. Thanks for the info!

Re: Spin off: c-section scar
I had staples and my scar is raised on 1 side. It's flat on the other side.
That was not an option on your poll.

Re: Spin off: c-section scar
Interestingly the first time around I had a raised scar after staples, but the second time around mine was flat after stitces...thus my theory. Now I wonder why...I also had a much easier recovery the second time around. My doc said people just heal differently, but I am still me, what do I heal better with age? Now my scar looks way better than it did after my ds. Who would of thought.
Thanks for your responses.

Re: Spin off: c-section scar
2003--had myomectomy, which is the exact same incision as a C-section. That was with stitches. Scar was raised for a very long time but is now barely noticeable.
2007--had C-section with staples. They could not go into the same spot b/c of positioning. This scar has always looked better than my prior scar did at the same time period after surgery. It is still raised, though. I have hopes that it will someday be as invisible as the other one.

Re: Spin off: c-section scar
4 months pp - I had staples and I can feel my scar when I rub my hand over it but I wouldn't say it is raised.....if that makes any sense.

Re: Spin off: c-section scar
I had staples and my scar is barely noticable. It healed very nicely from the beginning - even I week pp it looked very nice. I think it has a lot to do wit how your skin heals and the skill of the surgeon.

Re: Spin off: c-section scar
I had staples and half is raised and the other half is flat. I wonder if it has anything to do with how he did the staples. Im hoping that for the next time around, he can make my raised side flat.

Re: Spin off: c-section scar
I had staples and my scar is flat - sorry, doesn't go with your theory.
I think it has more to do with the surgeon then the method of closure, JMO.

Re: Spin off: c-section scar
I had stitches and 4 years later, you really can't even see my scar. Completely flat and faded. My doc did a wonderful job!

Re: Spin off: c-section scar
My scar was always flat, and I had a very different kind of c-section. I had internal stitches and tape externally.
