Spin -off from A Parenting Post RE:CHINA

Does anyone think anything of the fact that all these dangerous recalls etc are coming from Chinese made items?

There were the fake $1 store toothpastes, the fake cigerettes sold which had tainted chemicals in them, then the FP/Mattel Kids products, Now the Bibs...And the Pet food ... And I saw on CNN there was a recall on tires from there as well.

Is this all a coincidence?

No, I don't. China has been infringing on trademarks and reproducing products that are far inferior for much less money. Plus, they don't have the checks and balance systems that other industrialized countries do.

I will say from a manufacturing point of view- the US and I am sure other countries pushes and pushes for lower prices and better quality

it is part of the Chinese culture to "save face" and never say no-

so inorder to produce the goods and not lose money- they cheap out on materials

Well we only have corporate America to thank for all this. It is so much cheaper to pay for this labor that doesn't have child labor/salary protection labor laws.

So its cheaper for corporate American to sell us potentially tainted products and then deal with a recall than actually monitor the quality (and labor) that goes into the product.
