Spin-off from GTG thread: meeting people online

Who else has gotten strange looks and comments for this?

I actually have met some really good friends from my sorority alumnae group, which originally was posted online.

I actually met my DH from one of the ladies in that group---they are like 2nd or 3rd cousins and she introduced me to him. I always remind him of that when he gives me a hard time.

I also feel really happy to have found this site because there are so many people in my same boat first pregnancy wise (or btdt) who actually live in my area.........it's great.

well i'm obviously not cool enough to hang out with you girls

i joined LIW 6 months before i got married, and i never went to a GTG with those girls (not even sure if there were any).

i joined LIF 4 months before i got married. i just always felt more comfortable here b/c i really didn't care about wedding planning like some other people did. for me it was about the drinking, the food, and the dress, that's it

although i have friends who had kids a year or two ago, they are BTDT in a way that makes me feel silly for asking so many questions... so i come here for advice or to vent. and honestly it's nice to meet new people that don't know me from way back when.

ETA: as for "strange looks," my DH teases me but then tells me to post here when he has a question - my mom does the same thing now
