Spin off to - Home Insurance Policies
Do these companies also insure you for cars? Do you feel you save money with separate insurance companies for car & home? We are buying a home soon and these are the questions that keep coming up. Thanks!

We use The Hartford for our car, home and unbrella polices. We save money having all three with one company

Could I have their contact info? Does it matter if you are in Nassau or Suffolk? Thanks!

we used Nationwide in Huntington, but as of 3/1/07, they are not writing any new home owner policies on Long Island. We got in just before the new rules. We actually had our policy start 1 week before closing to do so.

Re: Spin off to - Home Insurance Policies
We saved money by having our car and home through State Farm. I called the few companies I could find offering coverage, and they offered the best coverage at a decent rate.

Re: Spin off to - Home Insurance Policies
We actually have the car with nationwide and the homeowners with state farm. I have had my car w/nationwide for a long time so i get a longevity discount - but as Kerry said they are no longer writing homeowners for LI so I had to go to state farm. I priced out the two policies with them but it was $200 more a year, even with the multi-line discount, so I left the auto with nationwide.

Re: Spin off to - Home Insurance Policies
we have geico for car and state farm for the house.
even with the discounts both ways it was cheaper for us to have separate policies.
state farm wanted more than 500 more for 6 mths of car.
