Spin off ? to American Fertility/Dr. Braverman

Is his speciality PCOS or would you recommend him to someone who is experiencing unexplained infertility or high FSH etc?

i dont think he "specializes" in PCOS but i dont think that matters really. i think his specialty is immunology and recurrent miscarriage (someone feel free to correct that if its wrong).

i see him for PCOS but i have high LH and my FSH is normal. IMHO compared to others that i have spoken with who have PCOS but are seeing different doctors - I feel his protocol is more aggressive and thourough.

Re: Spin off ? to American Fertility/Dr. Braverman

I asked him this question point blank.

He told me that a majority of his patients come from other REs because they obviously didn't have success. He finds a lot of women have undiagnosed immune issues. Since he is a RE immunologist he checks for these things. He is one of the few. His daughter is in med school at Brown studying Immunology as well. He also is unconventional and will customize and re-customize depending on what he finds. No two women are the same.

I asked him about his success with us old ladies (over 40) and he says he has a lot of older patients. He has a wide variety of diagnosis and treats them all individuallly since not everyone is the same regardless of response from meds and m/cs. He quoted his stats with the over 40 folks higher than I have seen for most clinics.

I think his specialty is immunology/gynecology but has experience and knowledge of all diagnosis. He is probably the only "RE" I've heard of who is a diagnostician first.

eta: maybe his high success rate is due to women coming to him after others have failed to get them to their goal and he has a lot of info already from previous cycles.

Yes! I had unexplained infertility. My previous RE did the conventional tests and was satisfied with the label of unexplained infertility diagnosis. Consequently, I got nowhere with them. Two failed IUIs and one IVF later, I decided there had to be a real reason why I wasn't getting pregnant. I moved onto Dr. B who did a lot of testing (blood clotting, autoimmune, further genetic testing, sperm fragmentation test) and guess what? He found out the problem!!! It was totally unexpected but he found it because of all the extensive testing. First IVF with Dr. B I got pregnant!!!! I am not almost seven months pregnant with a healthy baby Chat Icon

Re: Spin off ? to American Fertility/Dr. Braverman

Thanks for the replies. Chat Icon I'm seeing an RE now who I'm pretty happy with (like him, the office etc) but I'm still not pg. But I'm also older (40) and have had the experience of having another RE that it wasn't worth his time to work with me unless I was going to do a donor cycle. So I'm hesitant to get another opinion but I really am running out of time!
