Spin off to Credit Cards - If you CARRY A BALANCE/paying off old debt, how much?
I know this was done before but the results looked like 'all or nothing' because the amounts were $0 - $5K, so I thought I'd do one that had a broader range. I am an accountant and I get SO MANY calls where people tell me the balances they’re carrying and the numbers are pretty big, so I was curious if it was fairly common.

Thankfully, we don't carry any balance on our credit cards. DH used to have a line of credit with his bank that he owed money on, but we paid it off not too long after the wedding and now we are debt free and plan to stay that way until our debt is in the form of a mortgage!

I still unfortunately have debt from when I quit teaching and went back to college. I worked through most of it and used savings, but 1 semester I charged like mad (food, gas, necessities) but I think I should be done soon!

Ugh... you are so lucky! DH and I have about 2.5 more years before we're out of the woods.

We paid off all of it years ago but I'm sure that will change once we own a house. 
Between the car and his school loan, we have about 30k in debt right now that isn't on credit cards.

We have one card we are slowly paying off. It's got about $2k on it and hopefully my mid next year it will be gone.

We have 4 major CC's. All of them have balances under $1K. The highest balance I have on one is $800...the others have betweeen $200-300. We charge then pay off. I never like to carry balances over $1K..that is now..before was a different story. I feel anything under $1k is easy to pay off.
