Spin-off to Crib Transition - forget him, how do I deal?

I think DS would sleep anywhere we put him, as long as he was swaddled. The few times I've napped him in the crib swaddled it has worked, but I'm not ready to not have him at arm's length at night.

I can literally stare at him with one eye open and see that little chest move up and down, or put the binky back in his mouth with my eyes closed.

My biggest issue is the fear of SIDS still...
He is 8 weeks old.

I totally understand how you feel. I was do sad when my DS left our room and recently I was said again when DD left. I left my DD in her cradle as long as possible. We transitioned her at 4 months. My cradle's weight limit is 0-5 months and 18 pounds so we could have left her in it longer, but I felt she needed more room. I mean your DS is only 8 weeks so you can leave him in your room a little longer. Just check the weight limit on you bassinet or cradle if that is what you are using. Chat Icon Chat Icon

The Angel Care monitor is a great gadget for paranoid parents!

If DC stops breathing, the alarm goes off. IMO, it's much better than having them right next to you. If you are sleeping, there's no way you can hear them stop breathing or watch their chest, no matter how in-tune you think you are. With the monitor, it takes care of that. We used it for both our DC.
