Re: Spin off to Gardasil post...
i voted yes, and i do feel strongly about it, but i'm not 100% and i guess that's just because i don't know as much about it as i would like to.
But, i look at it this way: Cancer is a public health issue... crisis, even. And, to know that we now a vaccine that can protect against a cancer causing strand is Amazing, imo... to underestimate the value of that is incomprehensible to me.
For some reason, i feel like people don't realize that there are ways that you can basically 'catch' cancer (as in this case), so they underestimate having a vaccine for it. If it were for AIDS... knowing how easily transmittable that is... and you could eliminate your risk of ever catching it.. or, More importantly, your Child's risk, i would imagine people would be all over it. So, i guess it's hard for me to understand why most people wouldn't see the benefit in trying to protect their child against this form of cancer.

Re: Spin off to Gardasil post...
as a parent I think that it should be given to all girls...however as with most Vaccine's nothing is Mandatory...parents do have the right to refuse.
I recently had a conversation with my children's pediatrician. He told me that he has a few patients in which the parents refuse any Vaccines at all to be given to their children. I can't understand why these parents choose to do this...but it is their right.

I voted yes... why wouldn't anyone want to give their child a shot that narrows down their chances of a certain type of cancer.

I think it should be up to the patient, not a mandatory shot.
