Spin off to table food post...Am I bad mommy?

DD is 9 months and the only table foods I've given her is bananas, and cherios. She loves them, but I'm nervous about giving her other things b/c she only has 3 teeth.

Anyone else hold off on giving table foods?

Also - spinoff on this post - she can't have egg whites yet, but she can have pancakes- aren't there eggs in pancakes??? so confused...

you should start gradually because the longer you wait the harder it will be for your DC to eat solids. Do you at least give jared baby food or stage 3? DS had only 2 teeth until he was a year old. I would make an appointment with your ped if you to discuss it if you are that nervous.

I give stage 2 baby food and yogurt. I was going to start more foods when she turned 8 months, but then she had a stomache virus and then a cold, then an ear infection and now an eye infection. I don't want to try new foods until she is off the antibiotics, that way I won't attribute diarhea or other reaction to the antibiotics.

Kaydyn didn't get her first teeth until 9 1/2 months. Our ped said to hold off on table food until then so we did. She is 11 months today and now has 7 teeth and we've given her only a handful of things so far. We just made things really tiny until we knew she could handle them. I don't think you're bad at all....you're doing what you think best.

They don't need teeth to eat. DS can munch on just about anything w/his gums!!

What if you start w/all soft stuff? Some of the things I started with were bits of bread, boiled carrots, blueberries cut in half, puffs, beans, over-boiled pasta, small pieces of cheese, etc.

I'd imagine that eggs as an ingredient wouldn't pose too much of a risk Chat Icon Gotta ask the pedi!

If you're a bad mommy then so am I. Ryan eats cheerios and that's about it. I gave him pancakes but he really didn't like it. We tried cheese - again, didn't like it. Maybe I'm giving too small of pieces and he can't enjoy it??

ETS: He doesn't even have 1 full tooth - 1/2 a tooth so far.

Re: Spin off to table food post...Am I bad mommy?

DD is a year and the table foods she has eaten are:

banana
sweet potato
chicken
cheese
potato
string bean
ground beef (meatballs)
pasta
dried apple slices
Ritz crackers (and a different organic brand of cracker)
waffles

As for the eggs question - my ped said at 9 months if I was feeding her just eggs she could only have the whites, but it was OK for the whole egg to be in something like pancakes or waffles.

I didn't give table foods until 12 months so I don't think you're a bad mommy Chat Icon

At 7 months our ped told us DS could have egg products (ie pancakes) but not to cook him an egg. We gave him french toast about that time. At 9 months we got the okay for eggs but I probably didnt give them to DS until 11 months!
