SPINOFF: Do you know if YOU were....
did you parents plan on having you, or were you a surprise that they didnt know how much they wanted until they had it?

i was a 'Pleasant Surprise'. seeing as my mom was 19 when she got pregnant with me, i dont think she ever tried to hide that fact either  Here we are, almost 25 years later, and she still tells me all the time that i was the best surprise she ever had

Surprise Surprise. I came nearly 9 years after my last brother! I have three older brothers and when I was born they were 10, 9 and 8!!

Some how I escaped from my father's loins. The age difference between me and my older siblings are 11 years, 10 years, and 7 years.

My uncles are 6,10,11 years older than me... so they were my big brothers growing up. Everyone still calls them my brothers... i gave up correcting them  and then my brother and sister are 9,10 yeras younger than me.... so i got the best (and WORST) of both worlds

I was a shock 
My mother had a miscarriage and the doctor told her to wait 3 months to try again. She was pregnant within the month. she was a nervous wreck the entire time & I fully blame her for my acid reflux & nervous stomach.

Not sure about this one. Being I was born 10 months after my older brother, I want to say I was a surprise. But my mom had 6 children, so who knows!!

Not only was I planned- I was born in the month my parents wanted  They were both teachers, and they wanted to have me in June so that they could have the whole summer with.

As my mother says, I was a "pleasant surprise". Dad was 40 and she was 34. (In the 60's, woman were usually done having their children by then). My sisters were 7 and 9.

I have an interesting story. I was a long awaited surprise.
After my mom gave birth to my sister in 1968, she stopped ovulating....for 10 years. She tried fertility drugs, and didn't concieve.
In 1978, my parents had the opportunity to adopt, and chose not to. My sister was 9 years old at the time, and they decided they were content with just having one child.
Fast forward to April 1979...surprise!! 
ETA: Before I knew all this, I used to wonder if I was an accident b/c of the 10 1/2 year age difference between me and my sister.

As far as my mom has shared, both my brother and I were planned. She had a miscarriage inbetween us, too.
She has actually told me a lot about how she was on the pill and how she came off and within a few months she got pregnant.

a little bit o' both. my mom wanted a baby so badly but was totally not expecting me when she did. she was 23.
my mom on the other hand was a TOTAL surprise. my grandparents got married in july of 1953. apparently my grandmother counted wrong with her cycle (hence the negatives of the rhythm method) and mom was born 10 months later. oops.

My parents had a rough time trying to have a kid. My mom had multiple miscarriages over 4 years and they decided to pursue adoption. They had just made an appointment with an adoption lawyer when she got pregnant with me.
