Spinoff: Brown Eyes
Maybe it's true that you always want what you can't have...
My husband and I are both fair with light eyes. There was never a snowball's chance in heck that our kids would have brown eyes... but I so wanted it.
I think my kids have pretty eyes (one is deep blue and the other has dark green) - but there is something about beautiful brown eyes - something so soulful and rich.
I keep hoping that maybe there is some brown back on the family tree and that MAYBE if we ever do decide to go for that 3rd baby - he or she will have those heartstoppingly gorgeous brown eyes that melt your heart.
Is there anyone else who hoped for their child's baby blues to turn brown?

Re: Spinoff: Brown Eyes
I love big brown eyes too!
My DD was born with very blue eyes and they turned into the prettiest hazel/gray/greenish brown color. It's very different and I love that!
My DS has my big Greek brown eyes.

Re: Spinoff: Brown Eyes
I was pulling for light eyes. I have green, DH has brown. Not to go down the whole tree, but my mom, grandma, and sister have blue. Dad has green. DH's side - only one without brown is his dad.
Brown is such a dominant trait, I knew we'd wind up with brown eyed children. I always despised brown eyes.
But....DS's eyes are so friggin big, the brown eyes melts my soul -

Re: Spinoff: Brown Eyes
My husband and I have green eyes (so does our parents, except for my mom(who has blue eyes)). I actually wanted my kids to get blue eyes.
Kaitee's turned green before she was a year old but now at 2 they are brown (at least thats what I call them ). I never wanted her to have brown eyes but now that she does I LOVE them. I think they are beautiful!
You can see her eyes great in the picture:
I was also lucky (at least so far, she is 13 months old) and got a blue eyed girl too!

Re: Spinoff: Brown Eyes
Very similar to Jess, only my DH has blue and I have brown.
We got ourselves a brown eyed, (possible) redhead

Re: Spinoff: Brown Eyes
I have one of each - a blue eyed girl and a brown eyed boy. While I absolutely LOVE my DDs blue eyes, I sometimes wish my son got the blue eyes to go with his dark brown hair . . . just like DH

Re: Spinoff: Brown Eyes
DH has dark brown, I have medium brown -- I never even entertained the thought that DD would have anything OTHER than brown!! Image Attachment(s):

Re: Spinoff: Brown Eyes
DH & I both have hazel eyes (although he insists his are brown ). I was truly hoping for green. At 11 months DD's eyes look like this:

Re: Spinoff: Brown Eyes
My eldest daughter has those very very dark, almost black, brown eyes...the ones where you can barely see the difference between the pupil and the iris..
The twins are light eyed like me..although I dont really know what color I would call their eyes. Kind of grayish I guess...
Caden got my light eyes too...Part of me wish they were brown like his Daddy...

Re: Spinoff: Brown Eyes
My DH and I both have blue. Our parents all had blue. Our kids all have blue. So I knew I wasn't having any brown-eyed kids (at least with him ) But I never understood the bad rap that brown eyes seem to get. My one SIL called my nephew's eyes anything but brown for the longest time ("hazel", "greenish brown", "golden hazel' etc.), it was like she couldn't accept that his eyes were brown. Gorgeous big brown eyes!! I don't get it... I think brown eyes are beautiful.

Re: Spinoff: Brown Eyes
I have gorgeous blue eyes   and my son has gorgeous warm chocolate brown eyes. I wouldn't change it for anything. This kid is already so darn cute without blue eyes. Momma is proud.
