The hardest part of changing a tire is putting the jack in the right place. Other than that, it is just unscrewing the nuts and voila. It isn't rocket science. Besides, we are women. We just hail down strangers when we need our tire changed.

Yes, but the only time I ever did it was when I learned it back in my school's version of Home Ec - called "Single Survival"
Haven't done it since so I don't think I really qualify as "knowing" how to... I think if you were to ask me to do it right now I'd start crying...

I have no idea ( well, I grasp the basic car up, tire off, tire on concept)
but I rarely drive.
I totally freaked out when DH was changing his tire on the side of 95 in RI.
He is quite good at changing tires, even with me screaming TRUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUCK- at the top of my lungs every few minutes & telling him to hurry up before we all die.
Yeah. . . I'm supportive like that.

I do know how. I've changed many a tire and I also have changed my oil and brakes. I believe that you should know how to do basic maintenance on your car just in case you get stuck somewhere.

I LOVE you!!  I am the same way. I have actually replaced a hose on my car cooling system on the side of the road because my car was overheating. My friend held the hood up for me. He is 6'2 and gay. He had no desire to get his hands dirty.

I've watched many times, and could do it if I needed to. DH is usually there and wants to get it done quickly so he will push me out of the way.
Hardest part is the bolts - those men with the automatic tighteners make them so tight, that getting them untightened using the manual tool is difficult.
I had a friend who was changing the tire once, even stepping and jumping on the tool to take the bolts off wouldnt work they were so tight.... and no, it wasn't the bolt with the tire lock!

i know how to change a tire- DH is an engineer and "car guy' so he made sure i know... BUT i don't think i could physically do it, because the bolts are on SOOO tight that i just don't think i have the arm strenght to get them off...

My Dad made me learn before he allowed me to drive to Cortland to visit Rich my freshman year.
I googled it and then had to prove I could do it!

Absolutely. My dad wouldn't let us drive until we learned a few car basics, one of them changing a tire if the situation was not dangerous.

Yup, I changed a tire on my first truck once. Then my friend got stuck on the side of the Wantagh Parkway and called ME because she knew that I knew how to do it. So I got filthy kneeling in the mud, not her.
But I've also had the HELP truck do it for me on the side of the 135. I started to do it myself, but they have those handy-dandy balloon jacks so I just stood back and watched.
My mechanic just taught me about that one bolt that unlocks the other ones. I never knew that about my car - the old cars I had didn't have that security feature.

I know how to call AAA and in Ohio you had to learn how to change a tire in Driver's Ed.
