Spinoff.. Elevator Pet Peeve!
The other thread made me think of the ANNOYING people in my building.
So I'm the first one standing at the elevator waiting and I've already pushed the button and it is lit up. Why does the next person come and REPEATEDLY keep pushing the button that I've already pushed?
So I sometimes say.. I've already pushed it, that's why it's lit up.
They say, Oh well this makes it come faster.
Um, NO it doesn't, it passes time and makes you feel better, but annoys me!
Do people really think the elevator somehow senses that oh, they keep pushing the button, I should come faster because they're clearly in a hurry..

So tru. Also, do they think that it COULD come faster, if only someone did the impatient button re-press maneuver, but it's holding out on you? Geesh.

I worked with a lady a long time ago who was convinced if you kept your finger on the button of the floor you want it wouldn't stop at other floors. That irked me to no end

I know some cars are programmed that if you hold the door closed button, it will slow down at floors where the exterior button is pressed, but will continue on without opening. That is a nice trick that an elevator operator taught me.
