spinoff from pregnancy- those of you who delivered in the winter
Were you able to take the baby home with the Bundle Me in the carseat? I used one with DS and will use one again, but I know it's been mentioned they're not the safest things, and wondered if the hospital said it was ok when they checked the carseat.

Re: spinoff from pregnancy- those of you who delivered in the winter
I had the bundle me, but heard from a few people that the hospital would make us take it off before we went home. We took it off just in case (one less thing to have to carry home) and just covered the baby with a blanket when we left the hospital. But as soon as we got home, the bundle me went back on and we used it all winter. I loved it!
ETA: I never asked at the hospital, so technically it could have been ok with them! I just listened to other people!

ds was born in Feb. We used a snowsuit to take him home. After that we used the bundle me. Who said they werent safe? I believe they are actually safer than the snowsuit! They dont compromise the straps in the car seat at all!

I think they're definitely safer then bulky snowsuits, bu tthey say you're not supposed to put anything in a carseat.

Re: spinoff from pregnancy- those of you who delivered in the winter
DD was born Dec 1. We didn't try. We put it in when she was 6 days old and we took her to her newborn shoot. I wasn't comfortable with it so I got the kiddopotomus one instead. I was a big fan of that! It goes over the car seat, not under the baby, so it is very safe. I would definitely suggest that instead. Outside of the car, I would also tuck a blanket around DD and then took it off in the car (since there's heat on and it warms up pretty quickly in the car.)

Re: spinoff from pregnancy- those of you who delivered in the winter
we had ours at the hospital, but couldn't figure out how to get it on the car seat-- so, we just used a blanket. Ultimately-- we never even put it on since we weren;t spending too much time outside anyway.

Re: spinoff from pregnancy- those of you who delivered in the winter
shane was born in February, it was FRIGID the day we took him home. We didn't use it but not because of the hospital saying no, I just didn't see a need. We carried him from the front door of the hospital right to the car which was waiting right out front and then from the car right into our building. He was outside for a total of 30 seconds maybe combined. He was in his outfit and we had a blanket on top of him and he was fine. For the record, the hospital didn't check the seat so I suppose we could have used it if we wanted to.

We brought DD home on 12/28 and it was in the 60s! We just put her in a hat, booties, outfit and covered her with her favorite blanket.

Re: spinoff from pregnancy- those of you who delivered in the winter
My son was in the NICU and left in Feb. If they are in the NICU they won't let you leave with anything extra attached to the car seat. They also wouldn't let anyone go with an extra fluffy winter suit. So we put him in a fleece jumper over his clothes with a hat and mittens and had lots of blankets.

My DD was born in February 2008 and the nurses at St. Catherine's made me take it off. They said it was not safe to use. I never used it after that.

My DD was born on Thanksgiving and we were able to use it! The best thing ever!! I delivered at North Shore and the hospital did not say anything about it.

Re: spinoff from pregnancy- those of you who delivered in the winter
My son was born in late November and it was freezing when we brought him home. We used the bundle me and had no problem. I can't imagine what they would be considred unsafe though the straps go through it and the baby is completely secure.

my son was released the NICU at Lenox Hill
